Friend of mine dropped 200lbs on this diet. It was doable Bc it’s so much meat, and people like to eat meat.
However, I also saw a compelling argument documentary that came to the opposite conclusion: that high fat is the biggest problem and biggest contributor to obesity and diabetes. sugar, while not exactly good, gets burned up by the body relatively quickly. And the best thing for the body is to eat loads of vegetables and whole grains, not meat.
So who knows.

I'm not familiar with that diet specifically.
My personal experience with something similar was very successful. In September 2016, I was diagnosed diabetic, weighed about 330-335, and had terrible join pain from arthritis and previous injuries. High blood pressure etc. etc.
What I used was a hybrid Atkins/Caveman/Mediterranean diet.
No bread, milk, potatoes, sugar, peanut butter, alcohol, processed foods and so forth.
All the eggs, eggs, eggs, meat, chicken, turkey, pork, sausage, bacon, fruit, vegetables, leafy greens, spinach, kale etc. Basically shop the margins of the grocery store and avoid the middle.
Coconut or cashew or almond milk for drinking or with coffee. Sweet potatoes. Stevia or honey. Olive oil or coconut oil for cooking.
There were reasonable expectations for cheating and having to eat out and practical advice for handling that. No particular exercise regimen but walking was suggested as a minimum. I swam three days a week at the Y.
My physician wanted to put me on metformin, blood pressure Rx, and Contrave (?) which I deemed too new and risky. He also advocated lifestyles changes. I declined the meds and made changes so I could tell what was really working.
When I went back in March 2017, I was down to 263 and on schedule for my next goal of 250 ultimately aiming for 200 or under my playing weight in my teens/twenties.
He wrote in my chart given my numbers that I was no longer diabetic or hypertensive.
A bad car wreck injuring my wife and I in early April 2017 took me out of the game until just recently so I'm able to swim regularly again.

I think the easiest and simplest way to be healthy is 1) cook your own food from raw ingredients. If you do that, you'll be okay.

Low dose metformin actually isn't a bad idea for you (or anyone who can tolerate it). It's a drug thats been around awhile and one of the few drugs with proven data to reduce stroke risk and other complications for diabetes. It's even recommended for people who have pre-diabetes.
Not every one can tolerate it, gives some people the shits.

I don’t know about it’s effects on cancer but I have heard an organic based gluten free diet can improve symptoms in children with ASD

My mother is very strict keto. She is borderline obsessed with her diet and working out after a cancer scare three years ago.
She gets tested monthly for a number of things as precautions but one of those tests is an inflammation test.
She always tests for zero inflammation which according to the clinic they have never seen before.
Point being, we destroy our bodies with the shite we put in it. Our food is killing us.

Definitely.
Vegetables are good no matter the diet. Processed foods are never good. I’m not sure if whole grains or meat are good. So I’d say each in moderation.
I know people lose weight with keto but I have a hard time believing eating all that fat is good for the heart and veins.

Pumpkin seed oil is supposedly really good for the body

I don't give a shite who diets with what. Just stop with the God damn FB pics of how you've progressed. Do you do it for you or for your audience?

That was the most reasonable and least objectionable of his recommendations and what I would have gone with for all the reasons you listed had not the diet, weight loss, and exercise been so effective.
I was concerned I would go for the six month follow up and not be able to differentiate between the relative effectiveness of meds vs lifestyle modification.
I appreciate your suggestion in any event. Thanks

There is a lot wrong with your post imo. The sugar/ glucose is stored faster because when your liver already has enough glycogen stores, it stores what you're eating as fat. Whereas your body using fat for energy because of the lack of glycogen, is using your body fat for the energy.
So sugar can burn faster , but only if you're doing something extremely active after you're eating.
This is why fasted cardio works so good in the am, because you have been fasting overnight and the cardio uses up glycogen storage to start burning some fat towards the end of your workout.

I would be interested if anyone would have a good keto diet guide/book they could recommend. I have no issue being disciplined with what I eat, it’s the planning/shopping and having smart plan when you are caught unprepared or in a position where you have to grab something quick. Working 60hrs a week and busy with LIFE....kind of just say frick it, but if I had a structured plan to follow with specific meals and ingredients planned, I’m sure I could dump the 50 I need to.

There is a pretty good Mediterranean keto diet book iirc. Just look on Amazon. It combines the heart healthy Mediterranean with keto pretty well.

And there is the whole sugar makes you more hungry. So people are eating something that is addictive and actually makes you eat more.
