Netflix docu: The Magic Pill

Who’s seen and researched/qualified to speak on it?
It’s a documentary about kinetic diets (high fat & protein, low sugar & carbs). The doc touts a kinetic diet as a major aid to some mental diseases and potentially cancer treatment and prevention. Also described kinetic diets as a diabetes cure.
They filmed families who stated their autistic children were making 180* shifts after making dietary adjustments. A cancer patient said she avoided chemotherapy after a kinetic diet shrunk down her tumor.
I’m not even within the realm of qualified to give my opinion, and it’s clear that we have a massive lifestyle issue; whether it’s diet, air quality, the craft beer I drink on a regular basis...
However this documentary is making bold claims. It’s hard to know who’s right with all the money behind the food & pharma industries, but I’m just as skeptical of shite like this.

If you are one of those people that’s susceptible to cults, I could see how you could be interested by what these types of people have to say.

I know several people who have switched to a keto diet and just dropped weight like mad.

I’ve seen better diets on the LSU Quad

Believable. Sugar is known to feed cancer cells

Personally thought it was a compelling doc. Magic Pill? No. A healthier lifestyle than what the subjects had been living? No debate at all.

I do think we have a major problem with sugar/carb intake and this has caused massive health issues.

Been on one to varying degrees for a year. Sometimes hardcore sometimes more lax but still vigilant. I’ve had some fundamental changes even when not as strict.
Each his own but my experience has been positive.

Keto, which is basically low carb/high fat diet is an effective way to lose weight.
If you eat this way, you inevitably cut out processed and added sugars which are pretty much objectively bad for you and likely have carcinogenic effects, but to what extent we don't know.
Regarding the documentary, the truth is likely in the middle. Eating Keto isn't a wonder cure, but is almost certain to lead to healthier outcomes than the typical American diet.

Not always.

Flat earth “theory” was a generally accepted fact prior to the 1500s.

No it wasn't. Eratosthenes got pretty damn close to measuring the Earth's circumference two hundred years before Christ.

I haven't seen the documentary but generally speaking I think sugar is probably not really something that should be desired in your diet
And fats so long as they're healthy fats should have a pretty important role in your diet

Ideally, the only sugars you get should be from fruits, and maybe some degree of alcohol.
