CBS News has learned that D.C. Circuit Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Chicago Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett are currently Mr. Trump's leading contenders for the appointment to the nation's highest court.

Kavanaugh is a bit more centrist and Ivy League, while Barrett has a more pure conservative paper trail

I’m worried Barrett would not be confirmed. Media will go full on Bork over her

You know McCain's replacement will not vote to confirm, nor Jeff Flake. Then you have your folks like Susan Collins, so there are three "no" votes from the RINO Caucus.

she's already being slandered at every turn, having her views completely warped and distorted. It's disgusting.

Cryin Chuckie is going batshit.

Chuck Schumer on Twitter: "Amy Coney Barrett is a judge on the Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit & on @realDonaldTrump’s pre-approved list for SCOTUS. She passed his “litmus test” on overturning Roe v. Wade & striking down the ACA. Here’s where she stands on Americans' big issues:"

She should show to the Senate with a picnic basket. Proceed to the table set up for her. Spread a red/white checkered tablecloth. Produce a bit of wine, cheese, crackers, some potato salad, couple pieces of fried chicken...

Sit there sipping wine and chowing down while the Dems go apeshit maligning her. Dismissively wave her hand when actually questioned, and state, "that's not what I've said/written, but whatever".

May as well since not one thing she says or does during the hearings will matter one bit, straight party line voting.

Trump does not need to go with a centrist. He needs a hardcore conservative.

Whoever is appointed is likely to be the deciding factor on whether assault weapon bans are constitutional and is the 2A restricted to "hunting" firearms.

Where can we review their conservative bona fides? Does she have enough time under her belt to be certain about how conservative she is?

The thing about Barrett that Dems will use against her is that she has been a federal judge for less than a year.
