I'm not being sarcastic, but when was this? I'm 31, and I don't remember them ever being on Alabama's level. They've pretty much been Les Miles LSU level. They'll win 10 games every year and will be in the national title race every now and then.

I just looked it up to see when they've won national titles. I see they won 3 between 63 and 70.

The other TX schools mean nothing. Getting arse-raped by Oklahoma on the reg is the problem.

They were never on Alabama's level. They're neck-and-neck with Michigan -- a shite ton of games won from too many years ago with not many trophies to show for it. They've always been hyped up because of the state they play in and the money they generate.

I do believe they can reach tier-1 "blueblood" status, but they've got a lot of winning to do. The last decade or so has really put a damper on the once illustrious history of Texas football.

When did Texas ever have an Alabama-type stature? They have 1 title in the last 45 years

the only thing Texas football is good for is having fans that bitch and moan and talk about how much money they have

they have sucked for almost the same amount of years they haven't sucked since the new millennium

The only schools that have been close to that level are the U, Pete Carroll’s USC teams, and Bowden’s FSU teams that finished ranked in the Top 5 for 14 straight years

As a Texas fan, we've never been on an Alabama like stature.. maybe close in the 60's.

But we're still 7-1-1 all-time against the tiders.

TCU, Baylor, Tech, SMU, Cougar High, UTEP etc. aren't a blip on Texas' radar. Texas' issue has been coaching and entitlement. Which isn't mutually exclusive.

because schools like rice and tech and smu are getting in their way

the problem is finding the right coach. which isnt a problem singular to them. finding the right coach is really hard in football. they had one in mack. it was his time to go, and now they have to find a new coach who is the right man at the right time. thats really hard to find. some schools never find one, theyve been lucky enough to have found two. doesnt change anything about how difficult it is though
