That's no doubt. I have only ever had one legitimate anxiety attack, that shite would be impossible to verbally articulate or explain at all... if you've had one, you know.
You don't even know it's an anxiety attack when it happens. You just think you're dieing.
And Xanax 2mg qid, Jesus christ!

I worked in an ER for 8 years, LOL at the idea that this is specific to black people.
Doctors very often treat patients they think are drug seekers in very sarcastic tones.
I don't understand one thing, the patient has anxiety and as a result of the anxiety, he couldn't sit up? Is that normal?
It is very suspicious if a patient is known to have anxiety and just happens to "run out of medicine" and goes to the ED to get more.
I'm not saying any or all of that makes what the Dr did right, just saying that is generally how it goes, it's not out of the ordinary at all.

Ive dealt with anxiety and panic attacks for a while now, and all I can say about this situation is that when I’m dealing with a panic attack, the last thing I wanna do is sit there and try to breakdown my ‘condition’ with fricking scientific explanations of how I’m feeling... get the frick out of my face and let me go relax by myself and get my head right
This dude/family is full of shite. Pillheads will do ANYTHING to justify their actions

Exactly. I didn't even really have the wherewithal to think about drugs or the likes. I was in a state of pure weirdness and freakout. I mean, if someone handed me a xanax during the time i had that happen, I don't even know if i would have taken it or not. it was weird and i felt crazy. thank god i've never had that repeat.
funny thing... absolutely nothing was going on to trigger it. i was with my girl at the time, we were watching shite on tv, not even talking. just chilling and watching a movie or something.
i chalk it up to some weird brain/chemical flood gate opening for no reason within my conscious control.

Chronic benzos are not a good treatment for “anxiety”
Yeah it’s supposed to be for acute anxiety. Meaning he should’ve saved them for his anxiety attacks.

These are some of the best medical calls we receive.
3am, (Patient with normal vitals, no chest pain, no vomiting, alert and oriented)
Patient : “my stomach hurts”
Me : “How long has it been hurting?”
Patient : “Since like 1pm or so”
Me: “you want to go to the hospital?”
Patient : “what do you think?”
Me: “honestly?, I couldn't care less, take some tums” “or go to the hospital and wait for hours”
Patient : “think I’ll go to the hospital”
And that is where the bills that will never get paid and resources are being used that could be attending to someone who really needs it, kick in.
And they wonder why a Dr. or nurse has little patience with them.
The guy in the video is a fraud. He wants pain meds for pain associated with an anxiety attack? I’ve suffered with anxiety for 10 years and have never had pain after an anxiety attack. Also, if he’s taking his daily meds, more than likely he shouldn’t need benzo’s, but having some on stand by doesn’t hurt. Regardless it’s his fault he let them run out.
The Doctor called his bluff and only a fraction of the visit was recorded. How convenient

I give the physician the benefit of the doubt. ER docs especially see a lot of BS and maybe she was just having a bad day.

As a medic this is nothing out of the ordinary in an ER. Hell many times they get treated worse in the back of an ambulance. Not mine though, I have too much sympathy for people and I ain’t getting sued. The doctor may have been a tad overboard but like others have said, they deal with people like this all day long. It does get old. I’ve dealt with anxiety and it’s gotten worse the longer I’ve been in the fire service but I handle it better than I use to, and that’s why I have sympathy for those patients with it, but tying up an ER or ambulance with it is BS.
ETA: I should add tying them up acting like this guy is. Anxiety can be scary, but acting like this guy is doesn’t seem serious although I only got a limited video of him, so who knows.

What’s the problem?
People that don't understand how ERs work. My brother is an ER doctor.
The doctors need to deal with actual traumas and not some dipshit that didn't refill their anxiety medication. Dude was probably being an entitled little shite before the video and the DR was sick of their shite.
