Mike Ryan ? @mikeryan SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO is, surprisingly, pretty awesome. Tense, gritty, and ends on a note where I want more. Benicio del Toro is amazing.

This fricker clearly didn't see the first one

I wonder if he's just going off original expectations for soldado.

A lot of this board thought (based on original clip/trailer) it'd be a pretty shitty follow up.

This movie was basically all set up for the third movie.

It was....ok

First one was better. While this one had a lot of action the ending left a lot to be desired.

Yeah it was nowhere near as good as the first one but still a notch above most action/thriller films.

And yeah I’m not sure about that ending. Felt like had they stopped it 5 minutes short it would’ve made the movie much more impactful, instead of just setting up for a 3rd movie

Solid movie. I give it an 8/10. Not as good as the first but still worth seeing. The story could’ve been a little bit better too. Definitely feels like a set up movie for the third.

Yeah, the story was meh. Not a lot of point to anything. Unless the point is to show the CIA and government gets into all sorts of shady shite without any real guts or plan.

Not even close to the 1st one.

Its pretty rare I can get out to watch em. Hence, I'm very selective on what I go see when I get the opportunity to go.

With that said, I went and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Acting was top notch, cinematography was spot on, the action scenes are awesome. While it isn't as good as the first, it's damn good. Some of you said the end left something to be desired, while I thought it was a perfect bridge to Sicario 3.

Just because I like the actors and the first one, I’d see opt in to see it in theaters.

By itself it’s a Redbox movie though. Without spoiling anything, the plot is pointless (it sets up for movie #3 though) and some dumb decisions are made.

I thought it was too perfect of a bridge if that makes any sense

Felt like they made the movie for 1:45 minutes, and then decided they wanted a trilogy so they threw together a 15 minute second ending that puts everything in place

Saw it tonight! It was incredible! Not as much suspense but maybe more action than the first one.

Saw it tonight. Entertaining enough for 2 hours but not near as good as the first, and I wasn’t expecting it to be without Villineuve and Deakins, and not to mention the incredible score. First was a 9/10 for me, this one is more around a 6/10. First “meh” script from Sheridan as well.

You just gave it an 8/10 in your other post. I’m confused how you consider an 8/10 a redbox movie and I’m confused how you give a movie that you claim to be pointless with dumb decisions made an 8/10

I think Del Torro is one of the better actors around today.

I think that's a bit harsh. The only thing I questioned was what he did at the very very end

Spoiler

Why would let that punk live and teach him to be a Sicario?

Other than that I liked the ending

Because I personally like the move

I can see why somebody else wouldn’t think it was that good though.

Narcos is my favorite Netflix tv show fwiw.

Saw it today. Not as good as the first one but still a decent watch. The loss of Emily Blunt wasn't noticeable. Not sure where they're going with the third one but I'll watch it.
