What does O need to do for respect?
To be specific, probably win 11 games next year or 9+Bama, and win the SECC in 2019.
In general, he has to show that the team can perform at an elite level consistently and He must be able to beat teams he shouldn't, like Bama, regularly. That's the only way you'll win the NC. You won't out-talent the other team every time when you are going up against Bama, OSU, UGA, etc.

This is such a stupid question, its so obvious. You beat Bama and respect is earned. All else really doesn't matter at this point.

How so? He specifically said "even if he wins a natty."
I realize O isn't winning a national championship, dude has never won anywhere; but if he does, he obviously gains respect. That's the only point I've been trying to make. I'm just answering the OP's question
Understood. I had not followed the whole conversation.

I would in no way be happy with only 7 or 8 wins even if one was against Bama.

I would like to know more about this claim that Orgeron stabbed Miles in the back to get the job.
I don't think it's a claim but connect the dots is a game for ages 3+...it ain't hard

NO, it's not hard to imagine, but it's not responsible to speculate, particularly when the conclusions to be reached are so grave.

People need to quit begging other fans to respect Orgeron. It'll come with his results.
I don't know why some insist on the respect being given to him before he's done anything to earn it.

Win the SEC at least once every 5 years, make LSU elite nationally, and don’t sound like an utter bafoon in the process.

What are your concerns? Just want to hear other perspectives
- He didn't do a good job last spring and summer of creating a culture of accountability and developing the team leaders. It took losing to Troy before leaders stepped up and started holding guys accountable.
- By his own admission, after he got the HC job, he changed his approach with the players and became too hands off
- The Canada hire has been a well documented failure, so I don't need to go into details here, but that's Orgeron's fault and nobody else's. He should have had a plan B if Kiffin didn't pan out
- The way he didn't even conduct an OC search after firing Canada, is a clue to me that he probably wanted Ensminger all along after he didn't get Kiffin. So why didn't he just have the balls to hire him in the first place?
- I found him to be pretty reactionary, especially in the early part of the season. In the first two games, I though we played pretty well, but had a lot of penalties. He made penalties such a focus that I think it cut down on the players' aggressiveness.
- I didn't expect him to need much, if any, on the job training and was disappointed that he did.
Here are some things I like about him:
- His fire and attitude
- I think his clock and game management skills are excellent
- His commitment to rebuild the lines
- That it appears he and Aranda have a great working relationship...although, for 2.5 mil, I'd have a great working relationship with anyone
- I think he's been a solid recruiter, even if it doesn't always show in the recruiting rankings. He's going to trust his, and his staffs' evaluations

I've said this many times as well. Other than the ND field goal, I've been impressed with his in game decisions.

What will be interesting is if this much maligned coach does start winning hardware and bringing it home to LSU; rebuilds the wall around LA talent; continues to plunder talent from TX, GA, AL, FL, and MS; brings in that big JUCO talent and also the big transfers like Burrow.
The anti-CEO narrative will be in shambles. And those who perpetuate it here and around would be in disgrace.
It would be ironic, no?

What's the timetable on this? Last time I checked we were in year two, with OC number 2, counting on a QB without a single day of practice with the OC and with no returning starting skill players.
He went 9-4 against the easiest schedule in memory. He now faces the strongest schedule an LSU team has faced since at least 2011 if not earlier, with all of the handicaps listed above.
Again, what's the timetable? From where I stand there is no upward trajectory. We needed stability at OC last year to help build a strong system for this year. He knew that when he hired Canada.

No, not ironic at all. Orgeron doubters have a lot of evidence go support their position of doubting him. Others have hope. If hope wins out and the man turns it around, then there will be no more reason to doubt him. It's a called logic. Some fans have it, other see the world through their team colored glasses. Neither approach is right or wrong, just different.

The irony will be in the near consensus that CEO is a failure and will be. If he turns it around. Then, where’s muh narrative...?

Well, his career record is a failure. If he turns it around the narrative will be that he learned from his mistakes, made some really good coaching hires, brought in some excellent players and proved people doubting him wrong.
However, that doesn't mean that no one should be doubting him now. But, btw, just my two cents, it's foolish and silly to say he can't or won't succeed.

Good point. Poor planning. Having continuity in the OC would have seemed to be a priority when you have two true freshman QBs that were highly recruited. I'm talking about when he hired Canada.
These are the kinds of things I mean when I say I hope he learns from his mistakes.

That would be interesting, but all that is right now is a fantasy. He needs to make it reality. He gets no credit or respect unless and until that happens.

Hope springs eternal I guess. I wouldn't put any money down on this happening.
