With Ingram out, it looks to me like a free-for-all as to who's going to be the change of pace back. I loved the Boston Scott pick and really hoping he has success running the ball, but I'm worried he might end up being another Marcus Murphy type. I remember being excited about that dude too...

I Guess preseason will tell..honestly, Edmunds doesn't have THAT much of a leg up. We really only saw him in garbage time against a worn out and defeated bills D. Scott has that explosive speed and low center of gravity which makes him so exciting to watch, like a Trindon Holliday type, but just big enough to maybe have success at RB.

I guess preseason will tell? What do you guys think? Another Murphy/Lasco or someone with an actual shot at being productive between the tackles? I'm sure as hell rooting for him and hope he's hungry, bc it's his if he wants it

I think so. I love this kid. The tape is really good. He's dynamic, and he is very strong in his lower body. I think this kid will make Ingram disposable next offseason (sadly, because I love Ingram).

well you shouldn't have been. the dude had one preseason return and payton had a spot on the 53 etched in stone for 2 years for him.

He has a chance bc our other backs besides Ingram and Kamara are unproven. Most fans will say edmunds is a beast, but as you said, we saw him in total garbage time against the bills D that was getting blown out. Sean Payton knows offense, I trust that if he made a draft pick with Scott, he saw something there worth a roster spot

Do we know how well he returns kickoffs/punts? I know Smith is in that mix already as well. Historically speaking for running backs on deep teams, special teams is where Scott will have his best chance, at least early in his career.

He definitely has a shot, especially if Ingram stays suspended. Whether he makes it is another question, obviously. IDK about that, but he's definitely got the tools for our offense and now the opportunity.

I know. He reminds me alot of Maurice Jones drew.. both 5'7 with similar builds. MJJ 4.39 40, BS 4.4..both about 210 bottom heavy. If we get that level of talent out of a 6th Rd pick I'd be ecstatic.

highlights

You can see him returning once in the beginning and absolutely bulldozing the Gunner. Didn't look like he got much, but he had shite blocking. It doesn't look like LA tech used him too much on returns from what I've researched. We'd be fools not to at least try him out there

I mean how can you NOT get pumped up seeing those highlights. Sure, they're against shite teams, but sweet Jesus...he runs down right pissed off. I love it. It looks like his initial burst speed is a little slow but my God is his top end speed fast

Boston Scott was 195 at his pro day. No where near 210

Yesterday, nola.com's YT channel just highlighted him (and Michael Thomas) as a standout in week 2 of OTA's, particularly receiving out the backfield, noting one play that went for 60 yards beating the LBs.

I read 204, but that shite is variable, like sources that say Drew is 6'1.. even if he's 195, the dude is going to put on muscle and weight by preseason. He might even be 210 by now. I was more just comparing the frame of those two.

I'm optimistic about this kid and I think he was a steal

I agree, but realistically he doesn't need to be some 210lbs.

Here are guys around the same weight and height who have had some kind of NFL success.

Darren Sproles: 5'6'', 187lbs
Danny Woodhead: 5'8'', 197lbs
Jacquizz Rodgers: 5'6'', 196lbs
Dion Lewis: 5'7'', 193lbs
Brian Westbrook: 5'8'', 200lbs

Height somewhat matters, but bulk/build matters more IMHO. Sproles nor Rodgers for example aren't skinny 5'6'' guys, they're both built pretty well.

It’s not really variable. That is what they weighed him at, it’s documented.

A 5’6” guy adding 15lbs isn’t like a 6’4” adding 15 lbs. he can’t add 15lbs & be the same player
