This is the most expensive Star Wars movie made to date even factoring in inflation.
It is estimated to have edged out TFA’s budget due to reshoots. Final costs: around 250 million.
On top of that, the marketing for this movie likely pushed it far over $300 million.
Then consider that no one will be purchasing the merchandise.

Disney already gets a cut of all ticket and DVD sales from Deadpool, and they control the merchandising for the character. They don't need to take over anything.

Yep, and they don't need to lift a finger to do it. I'm sure they'd rather take over to increase their profits from the character, but right now it's almost free money.

My biggest feeling about a Solo movie is indifference. That would have been unthinkable to me as a child but both I and the people making the movies have changed.
Upon reflection, I think I just don't want to see this movie because I'm afraid it will be bad and probably even crap on the mythos of a character I used to love.
