Is this the most anemic offensive team in the Mainieri era?

42 home runs.

That's 9th in the SEC.
Six teams have more than 60 with UK, Ark and UF having close to 80 dingers.

Don't worry. It looks like the season is ending early anyway. No more suffering this year.

In before the Statisticians chime in saying the offense is fine.

Batting average is an incredibly overrated stat. A better stat is on-base percentage, and LSU is sixth there. Slugging is also a better stat, and LSU is seventh there. LSU is eighth in the SEC in runs scored.

What's hurt offensively is the Tigers are 12th in walks, and first in grounding into double plays. All in all, LSU is a middlin' SEC offense.

LINK

What's really hurting this team is LSU is 13th in ERA, and 12th in actual runs allowed (Tennessee has given up more runs but is 12th in ERA, which means the Vols have allowed way more unearned runs). And LSU was -15 in run differential in SEC regular-season games.

Well, we’re 6th in RBIs, so I’d imagine it’s decent.

Our bats have not been the problem this year.

it's now painfully obvious that, IF the tigers make the postseason and if they are going to have any success, mainieri HAS to protect cabrera.

I don’t feel like pulling stats but 2011 had to be worse.

We actually lead the SEC with RISP at .324.

It's .323, also leading the SEC, in conference games only

I didn't log off. Look at the thread I started when we were still down 3-0. Suck it.

lsu is also 11th in throwing out steal attempts
7th in passed balls
1st in grounding into dp
pitching -
12th in fielding dp's

the tigers have struggled all over the field. the obvious elephant in the room is dunn. not sure what's going on there this year. also, i now know not to ever trust ochinko's opinion on catchers after extolling feduccia's greatness

Pitching is and remains our biggest problem. It is average-to-poor pitching that has us on the bubble this season.

The good news is that we should be very good in 2019 on our pitching staff especially if Walker comes back strong and we can get Storz in our pen.
