For two very different reasons/situations:

Bob Marley - Three Little Birds

Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name (Don't ask)

Matchbox 20 - Mad Season. Got dumped around 02 and heard the song for the first time at timeout lounge shortly thereafter. Something about that song always reminded me of her but at the same time made me feel ok.

Not one particular song, but nostalgic tunes always seem to do the trick. 80's pop stuff takes me back to carefree childhood. Early 90's brings me back to college.

Robert Earl Keen-saw me through a couple of college heartbreaks and the death of a best friend (“Feeling Good Again” came out about that time).

Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers, oddly enough, pulled me through one especially dark time.

My 19 year old son's lifelong best friend was killed in a car accident a year ago. He was almost like another member of our family. The Walkmen - Heaven took on a special meaning during that time.
