Are checkbooks the new hipster fad?

Twice in the last week I got behind a 20 something year old bearded hipster who payed with a check and had a fancy designer checkbook.
Why do buisinesses still accept checks? These guys weren’t even old enough to know what a checkbook was!

I have a checkbook for school fees - book fairs, field trip fees etc. There are still some things that I can't pay online. I probably write 4-5 per year at most though.
