Pretty overweight but can do about 40 push-ups without stopping... more than a large Majority of folks at my weight can do .
28 and finally benched 225 with no spot
2 sets of 5 .
This was a big milestone for me .

225 for 2x5? Nice man! That's more than a lot of people can do.

That's not bad. That's about where I am and I have to work to get there.
At least I like to think it's not bad because it's close to me.

Is that flat Arch or powerlifting arch?
Posted on 5/9/18 at 6:37 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
Flat arch. Nothing fancy. Straight up and straight down .
Posted on 5/9/18 at 7:26 pm to Lawyered
Even more impressive but you need to arch at least a little to protect your shoulders.

Trust me, you can get there...
a few months ago, I could barely do 10-15 pushups at a time and it was embarrassing... so i focused on that with the dumbbell chest presses of sets with the 50-55/60/65/70/ 75 dumbbells doing as much as I could do in each set.
I'd been flirting at 205 and thought that was my plateau of being able to actually get a set in. but the other day, there were guys around so if i needed help, they would've pitched in... threw 2 45's on each side and got amped up and did it and then thought, well that wasn't too bad, I can do that again.

My bodyweight is 190 and my bench has always been weak. For me, 225x5 is as good as I've ever been. I console myself that it's paused, so I could probably do more touch and go.
Got a late start after helping neighbors try to evict a snake from the backyard. 5 giant sets of speed bench, arm over arm rope pulls and weighted dips.
Finished with 3 trap bar deads, then farmers walk, then 2 trap bar deads supersetted with tricep ext sled drags. I've never done the combo of trap deads/farmers/more trap deads and it was puketastic.

Man, I weigh 180 and that's where I'd love to get. I'm on my second run-through of Greyskull and I seem to be plateauing at the same place I did the first time - 3 sets of 5 with 205. I'm trying to decide whether to switch to 5-3-1 or just focus more on incline, close-grip, etc. and then come back to flat bench in 3 months or so.

I find that it's usually a mental thing more than a weight thing.
try doing the presses in a rack or with a board so you limit ROM for a couple weeks, then go back to regular bench.
Other option is to forget about the reps/structure for a couple weeks and just try to push more weight, 225, 245, etc.
Then come back to your program. The mental aspect should be handled by then and you're back on track!
good luck!

I've been getting lazy with my responses. I need to get back into it. I'll start writing something and just delete it.

I’d do DLs everyday. So satisfying.
Op - 127.5 - 5/5/7
Dips + 20 - 8/10
Ez Curl - 47.5 - 12/12
DL - 305 - 9
My OP is fricked. I was lifting heavier for more reps before reset. My form is off and I’m tweaking my lower back. Anyone have any cues to help with this? It took my a solid 7 seconds to get my last rep up. I probably should have bailed, but I was frustrated.

Mental, mental, mental. But switch it out for close grip bench and kick the shite out of close grip and get strong as shite on it. Then go incline and do the same thing then go back to bench.
So I love 531. But it's more of an advanced program. Let me ask you a question, how is going to a program that hits the lift less frequent, makes slower progress going to get you past the plateau? It's not and if it's slower progress you are after, you can keep the weight across a week on bench the same, just have to try and set rep records.
Also working your weak points will help, that's why I suggest close grip bench.
Now let's talk diet, what's it look like? At your weight, the greyskull philosophy would be 300g of protein, no carbs after 1pm outside of post workout. Control calories with carb and fat amounts. Are you doing that? If not do a reset and start doing those.
How much cardio are you doing?

GSLP WEEK 3 DAY 3
Bench 235 x 10
Squat 340 x 15
Today is the first day my reps really dropped. I could’ve got one more on bench, but my form went sour so I racked it after 10. Still feeling strong. Have a good weekend. I’ll be hitting the pool tomorrow. Also, I cut my leg doing cleans. Ouchies.

I’m kinda bummed out no one has responded to my question about overhead press. Anyone?

Sorry, didn't see your OHP question.
Do you use a belt and bracing cues for deads/squats? It helped me to approach OHP like squat in terms of walkout, screwing in feet and bracing.
If you have problems leaning back during the second half of OHP, focusing on punching your head forward when the bar clears it helped me.

2nd day of getting back on barbell bench
3 sets of 8, 135, up from 115 on first day back, tried a 4th set with 145 and could only muster 6 reps
3 sets of 10 incline dumb bell press with 40,45 lbs weights. will move up to 50s next session, trying to get where 8 is about my limit
3 sets of 12 @95 lbs close grip bench
2 sets of 20 on dips (weight assisted lol)
