Baby Jesus.

This one isn't even over yet. And unlike football where if you have 3 losses you are toast, who knows what can happen if we get hot during tourney time.

M A I N I E R I.............

The Semjase guide for DAD (Dumb as Dirt) LSU fans that can't spell the last name of the head baseball coach......

Let's break it down in a very simple way so all you DAD's can get it.

MA (As in Mediocrity Acceptor)
IN (Like the GIF of the guy running into the Wrestling Ring that's used when we're all mostly in agreement on a coaching hire)
I (As in Intelligence; mostly referring to a lack of)
ER (As in Emergency Room)
I (As in Igloo; the cheaper alternative to Yeti)

MA IN I ER I

Mediocrity Acceptor.
IN.
Intelligence.
Emergency Room.
Igloo.

Les Miles took over a team primed for a national title run. Mainieri took over a complete rebuild.

Les hit a wall and began a slow decline thereafter in his 7th year as coach. Mainieri just went to the national championship series in his 11th year as coach.

Mainieri has won the SECT or regular season title in 6 of his 11 seasons. Miles won the SEC twice in 11+ years.

Mainieri built another, program, Notre Dame, from the ground up, winning 5 conference titles and making it to Omaha. Miles won 7-8 games a year in his previous gig.

They are, in no way, comparable, except to our fans who don't understand the concept of a rebuilding year

Question; Would Skip win more than Paul Mainieri , , Answer; LMMFAO

Stupid question but I’ll play. Skip would have to completely change his recruiting preferences and tendencies in both the arms and bats he went after because he isn’t going to hit 150 homeruns a year with these bats.

He would also have to go against much stiffer competition both in conference and out and wouldn’t have the luxury of being head and shoulders above everybody else because of the parity that exists in baseball that wasn’t there in the 80s and 90s.

Lastly because of how much more information is out there on potential recruits fewer and fewer are being missed by scouts thus making it harder to get the studs on campus.

In other words the sport has changed. Would skip do well? Yeah probably he was a great coach. To assume he would win multiple titles in a 10 year stretch is asinine however.

Skip made us The New York Yankees, We're no longer feared , anymore and winning Omaha is not much more difficult than in the 90's Tanner did it at South Carolina and it appears O'Sullivan also may go back to back.

Miles was in the BCS championship game in 2011 and then the decline started.

Miles also coached 5 more seasons after 2011.

He may, but the most talented team doesn't win in Omaha every year. They didn't last year. You know who eliminated the most talented team in the country last year?

They both won a title early in their tenure. Both began to get complacent and stubborn. Both are not terrible coaches but have reached their plateau. How much longer can CPM last without an attitude adjustment and a new commitment to excellence?

He has admitted to phoning it in after the national title year. So you could say after playing for it all last year this year is the norm for Paulie. Even good coaches go stale and Paul has also said he is not enamored with glad handing the money men any longer and would rather be home with wife and supper. So the pay is good as long as he is competitive every couple of years he gets his money and supper with the wife. Stop being emotional about coaches it's business, perform or leave nothing to do with the who the guy is. Always support the Tigers not the place holder coach.

O'Sullivan has been the favorite to win the national title 4 or 5 times and has only done so once. Let's stop assuming national titles before they happen. Oregon state had 6 losses all season and were the most talented team in baseball last year.

He will because “WE gO To OmaHa WeveY OtHeR YeAR”

He’s getting out recruited by multiple SEC teams and we don’t even need to mention how far Florida is ahead of us. They made the finals look easy next year and are ready to go back to back, while we flounder with god awful pitching and average hitting. Besides last year where we got WRECKED in the finals he’s done nothing of note in Omaha besides that early run. LSU is in a sad state of affairs when it comes to athletics

This motherfricker's got a time machine. If I had a time machine, I don't know if I'd be wasting time posting on this site.

Outstanding. Just outfrickstanding. The first sentence mentions being in the FINALS just last year, then the second sentence says we are in a "sad state of affairs".

Diechman
Poche
Cole Freeman
Kramer Robertson

All drafted two years ago and returned for an extra year. Without that, CPM doesn’t get to finals last season. We didn’t get there because of the coach.
