Home Depot. More convenient to get to

I don’t mind local hardware stores, and I like the idea of them, but it’s hit or miss on the variety of options. Plus it’s more expensive.
And I need to say, I don’t really like being greeted at the door. I like to look around a hardware store and figure shite out myself. It stimulates my handyman imagination, and sometimes I find a better solution to the problem than the idea I had when I came into the store.
I do like the store employees to be nearby, helpful, and knowledgeable when I do ask for help, though. This is hit or miss with local shops as well, but usually better than the Lowe’s or HD.
Between Lowe’s and HD, like others have said, it depends on the location, but they are similar. I mostly use Lowe’s because it’s closer, but I’m fine with HD.

Home Depot in my area. The employees at Lowe’s are fricking clueless.

This, but if one takes the time, one can pick out some good lumber. Me, I just saw my own lumber. I keep a couple thousand BF on hand at all times from oak to SYP.

Depends on the town.
HD for me overall.

Although did get my flooring through lowes.

That isn't true. Home Depot buys on the exchange just like everyone. Often times they get preferential treatment from the big suppliers like Weyerheauser, L.P., GP and the like.

If I know exactly what I need and don't need assistance to find it, I am not biased to either one.
If I need help finding/choosing an item I prefer a local hardware store.

HD is owned by the Failclowns. But the Failclowns are owned by Drew Brees. Tough call.

Not always the case. Atbthe Houma Lowe’s, the bathrooms are in the back.
But as far as comparison in Houma, Houma Lowe’s is always packed and has a much wider selection (garden center and appliance center is nearly twice as large), while Home Depot looks like a ghost town, but has lower prices on some items.
