You know what? I agree, we wouldn’t be talking about it, because this would never have made it to the feds, or the state, or even a blip on the media radar. We wouldn’t have had police die and made to be permanently mentally handicapped as a result of a shooter trying to kill police and exact revenge.
You’re right. If Alton Sterling was white, we wouldn’t even remember it because it happened so long ago and it was just two cops doing their job and an armed criminal going for his gun.

SWB will get reelected because they vote and we don't. Don't know if St George would be worth a flip, but I'd like to see it happen simply as a giant FU to SWB & gang.

I think you mean the EBRSO. If St. George happnes the PD wouldn't be formed for a while. They plan to contract that with EBRSO.
Also, an unpopular chief and mayor may prompt a few to retire a little earlier than expected, but it isn't like many will flat out quit. I personally know several BRPD cops and while none of them seem to care for the new chief, NONE of them are willing to leave their future pension. They will put up with it the shite or transfer to other divisions to get away from certain people but they are all working for their retirement and won't be walking out before they qualify for retirement.

Well, I know it’s not a popular opinion on here but I think Salamoni deserves to be fired. I was a strong defender of him until that last round of video came out. In my mind, he definitely escalated the situation. I don’t think he should be charged and I definitely still think Sterling was wrong in many many ways, but Salamoni didn’t help the situation at all. I’ve been on the wrong end of of an over zealous cop (well, it was a prison guard because he was taken off the street for the same behavior), and that was very unprofessional and bullish of Salamoni.

Not necessarily. I read it more as that white people are more realistic when it comes to criminals dying and that they wouldn't cause a storm over something that is trivial.

Perhaps, but working solely for a paycheck with an eager eye on retirement, all while “laying low”, “getting by”, and “hanging back” is not exactly the type of worker motivation that leads to an effective police force and a safer community.
Baton Rouge’s future is most definitely in the balance. Crime is the number one indicator of how the future will unfold. (Education and Traffic are a close 2 and 3.)
Police apathy is a huge problem.

I don't disagree but I am looking forward to reading the BRPD'S internal findings and the exact policies violated that necessitated the termination.

If police would worry more about ridding their stations of bad cops, they would receive uncompromising support in these situations from the majority of Americans. As it stands now, we never have any idea if the police are telling the truth. We already know that people who deal with police will lie and fabricate stories to prove innocence. Now we have to wonder whether the police are doing the same.
