Houston Chronicle article

quote:

That honor goes to the Kingwood area, a master-planned community within Houston city limits that was created by the Friendswood Development Company and annexed in 2000. Via de La Valle, a neighborhood in San Diego, ranks as the safest community in the U.S. The Niche ranking was calculated using data from the U.S. Census, the FBI, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a crime and public safety score gathered via Niche user surveys. In addition to crime data, such as the number vehicle thefts, murders and assaults, Niche also gathered information on excessive drinking, drug-related deaths, firearm related deaths and the premature death rate.

Happy Easter everyone!

Kingwood is very safe, yes. But like anywhere, there is plenty of trouble for bored teenagers to find if they are looking for it. And if you can't find it in Kingwood proper, well then Forest Cove and New Caney aren't far away.

Living in Dallas, Kingwood is probably the only place I would visit in Houston

Kingwood was nice, until Houston annexed it. Naturally the democrat mayors ignored the streets (and who knows what else) so now they're just awful, especially Kingwood Drive. Place is slowly turning ghetto, and the massive flooding may have hastened the decline. No doubt the place was ONCE top notch. Sad.

We lived in Kingwood after Katrina for a semester. Great schools, great area overall. We loved the HEB, the YMCA and the greenbelt. I missed City Park and some New Orleans restaraunts, but Kingwood is a damn nice place.

The Houston councilman that represents Kingswood is Dave Martin, an LSU grad, and one of my fraternity brothers in PKT.
