PARKLAND, Fla. - A Broward County sheriff's deputy has been suspended after he was caught sleeping in a patrol car outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, authorities said.
Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokeswoman for the Broward County Sheriff's Office, said Deputy Moises Carotti was suspended with pay, pending an internal affairs investigation.

I understand law enforcement officers can work very long shifts, but it’s like Broward County can’t get out of its own way. Especially having a found deputy sleeping less than an hour after you caught the school shooter’s brother wandering the campus.

We've all copped a nap at work at one time or another.

Not true.
I have a family member who is government who pissed off their boss and their boss tried like hell to get them assigned to cartel land Mexico as a punishment.
It didn’t work.

Yep. Doesn't happen in the private sector.

More amazing training from the Broward Sheriff.

Give me a break here. Plenty of guys work 10-12 hour shifts in jobs they can't fall asleep.
I personally know of many a sheriff's that take the night shift during certain times of the year (ie hunting season) so that they can plan on sleeping during their shift. I'm not saying this is a regular thing, but it happens often. I don't have a huge issue with it, but if you don't want to fall asleep then get out of your cruiser and walk around.

When you are assigned to guard a school that’s in the national spotlight for getting shot-up, you should try and stay awake - even if it is just for the optics...

Didn't the same thing happen with BRPD outside of a walgreens a few years ago?
Cops sleeping in cars isn't anything new. Granted, this is pretty bad optics for that County.

On the tough “gotta have a nap days” at work, I used to sign for a small conference room and get in a 30 min uninterrupted nap. Worked great when you have to work 10+ hours and getting paid for 8.
