But it occurs to me that schools are self-segregating now. I'm not sure that's a good or bad thing, just what's organically happening. It does seem that as we have moved away from neighborhood schools, community ownership of those schools has diminished.

We shouldn't have Govt sponsored segregation but forced integration was a bad idea too.
Just have school choice without artificial districts. Let the buses within a certain area of reason run, and parents can drive their kids to another school if they want to.
