$28MM AAV would also be a record. Guaranteed money is obviously a record.

Fully guaranteed is fricking retarded. He just changed the NFL QB landscape for contracts. Rodgers is fricking drooling.

Why is Kirk Cousins commanding so much money, let alone fully guaranteed contracts? He's okay, but certainly nothing special.

It's pretty easy to bet on yourself where even if you completely fail, you still make 19.9 million

Yeah, , but the alternative was like $50-$60MM guaranteed at the time.

Three words as to why he went to Vikings "Minnesota Tax Laws".. And of course they're a better organization...

In New York Cousins would've had to pay state tax in both NY (extremely high) AND Michigan where his legal residence is.

But Minnesota and Michigan have a joint tax agreement where even if you live in Michigan and work in Minnesota you only have to pay tax for one state. It's an incentive that will save Cousins millions upon millions in actual income AND he gets to play for a stacked team and not the inept Jets.

So even if the Jets were offering more, cousins could still take home more in Minnesota with a smaller salary.

It's a win win and if you don't think the tax issue mattered, your insane.

Because Cousins took a 3 year deal vs a 5 year deal....

Haven't seen the Keenum details but feels like sticking with Keenum for decidedly cheaper would have been a better play.
Couldn't agree more, unless Cousins is WAY better than I think he is.

And I'm not down on him at all.

Every time I’ve watched Cousins I feel like he’s the check down to the flats king.

this might blow up in the Vikings face

Whomever signs AJ will likely double up and draft a top Qb as well

Like what the bears did last year

I think so. Arizona would be great for him. He either balls out and keeps the job and they trade the guy they drafted, or he does just good enough to get a job elsewhere when the new guy takes over, or he sucks and they just go with the new guy.

I tend to think players in cities like NYC have endorsement deals that help offset the difference.

Cousins is decent but how much of an upgrade over last year will he be for the Vikings? Cousins had a 93.9 last year while Keenum was 98+.

Still, I think Cousins has slightly more upside than Keenum.

How? It’s only three years. Unless he had a major injury he wasn’t getting cut in those three years.

Those assholes were pretty good last year.

Packers need to get the goddamn AARod deal done or it's just going to get more expensive.

I have no data to support this, but he seems to push the ball down the field quite often.

Wouldn't say he's a check down guy.

I also don't watch the Redskins much. So I don't really know.

Meh, he ranks towards the bottom of intended air yards average, just a shade above Alex Smith for example.

Brees is much lower though, which is a product of the Saints screen game.

2 reasons.....It’s Kirk Cousins and the precedent it sets. Cousins is good not great. Get ready for all the players in the NFL wanting a guaranteed contract. It’s gonna make the contract negotiations even more unbearable to watch unfold.
