This is common in my Tundra, I have to lube of the u-joints about every 30k miles or less.

Haven’t noticed it on my Tundra, but I’m only at 24k Miles

If you haven't tried any lubing of the slip yoke yet, I'd do that and see how long it lasts for you. I only had mine for 40k miles, but mine never had the issue. Seems to be hit or miss on whether your vehicle is affected.

my SUV developed a clunk when I put it into gear.
It was the universal joint. About the cheapest thing to repair.

So much for that sage advice.

I chose not to buy the F150. Instead I chose to buy the GMC and deal with different bullshite annoyances the dealerships should fix due to the mass issue plaguing this truck.

ETA: sorry I contributed exactly zero to this thread

except that after 100+ years we still get trucks from major manufacturers that have basic issues that should have been solved decades ago.

Got mine repaired under warranty. Dealer told me that it has something to do with some boot or gasket and was a design issue ford refuses to recall.

I’ve got 150k on mine and no problems since repaired initially.

Mine is a 2011, never had a problem, until just recently started hesitating when accelerating. Not all the time, but enough for me to have to bring it in.

I saw something about being replaced by a different drive shaft by the dealer that resolved it but there's so much noise on the forums it's hard to know what to believe.

What year?
My 2013 had it and they changed the drive shaft. Didn't help.
There is a TSB about a shim or something in the rear end itself. They did that and I never had another problem, until the timing chain stretched.
