Mueller evidence shows Blackwater founder held meeting to create Trump-Russia back channel

that a witness cooperating with Mueller has told investigators that the meeting was set up in advance, apparently contradicting what Erik Prince, the founder of the security contractor formerly known as Blackwater, has told lawmakers about the meeting. Prince had previously told lawmakers and the press that his meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian official close with Russian President Vladimir Putin, happened by chance and was not set up ahead of time.
LINK.to Hill article, that references WAPO
I’m just posting for discussion. Don’t shoot the messenger #MAGA
Meeting took place during the transition. I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know the in-ands-outs of the legality of this.
Would seem to me though that it would actually dispel the notion of “collusion” during the campain. If you were colluding with Russia during the campaign, why would you need to send somebody to the Seychelles after the fact to establish a “back channel”?

If I was the incoming POTUS I would set up similar channels with all foreign leaders....especially Russia. They’re on the short list of credible threats to the US right?
It would be incompetent not to do this IMO.

Every President has illegal, backchannel communications with foreign leaders.

So much so that I'll give this no credibility.
None.

Why would he need a backchannel during the transition if he coordinated during the election?

They name the witness... Nader

Theyve got Trump this time

The President elect does these things
Posted on 3/7/18 at 9:03 pm to dpd901
obama did this before he was sworn into office.
Posted on 3/7/18 at 9:05 pm to dpd901
Main gist of article is not the back channel itself, which is not illegal, but that Erik Prince lied
Prepare for another “lying to fbi” charge. No collusion

Diplomatic back channels are common among the past several administrations. Google Obama back channel Iran as an example

1st off, it's the word Nader vs Prince unless they have some emails. Nader is also the one claiming the UAE bought influence over the Trump camp.
2nd, you are right. Why pull this meeting if Trump and Russia were already in bed?
3rd, Trump was already elected President of the US by this point and there is a long history of administrations setting up secure channels of communication between countries. Who knows, maybe there was some reason not to trust the Obama hold overs with these task?

Obama, bush...etc... all had back channels.
Posted on 3/7/18 at 9:32 pm to dpd901
They are not looking for Russians. They are using Russians to look for something else they hope Trump did in the past that is illegal. Russians in BS.

This had NOTHING to do with the 2016 election.

At some point you have to wonder why so many people in Trump's orbit lied to the FBI about this one particular subject.
What information are they lying to protect, hmm?

Allegedly - and, it should at least be a relief now that it is clear there was no collusion in the election and this turns out to really have been some sort of witch hunt, right?

Not allegedly, Mueller has guilty pleas. They admitted in court that they lied to the FBI about these things.

If anything, this makes it clearer that there was collusion in the election, and from more sources than we initially thought. Erik Prince was involved?! Yikes, this is bad for Team MAGA...
