He said that like last month, but it will be a few years before Peterson says his definitive opinion on Jesus and being a Christian.
Yeah, that’s why I said in another post on here that he’s agnostic.
Just because you’re agnostic or atheist for that matter, doesn’t mean necessarily that you don’t understand the Bible nor does it mean that you can’t see the good that is in it.

Most farmers are smarter than these two... and more useful. Cowboys have deeper thoughts.

Jordan Peterson somewhat interacting with William Lane Craig on the meaning of life, Steven Pinker's wife was also present to take the token atheist standpoint and ruining the conversation generally.

Because how dare they question the status quo?!

Harris is more intelligent and more interesting.
His podcast might as well be called going to sleep. He's the most boring, monotone speaker I've ever heard. He's auditory ambien.

I like them both a lot. Harris is the most logical and rational thinker on earth, though.

Is that what they are doing?
Peterson is obviously a smart and nice guy, but he is blind as frick when it comes to Christianity.
Harris is an intelligent idiot.

I don't think that's the case at all.

The bible is about Christ, from beginning to end.
Peterson says he is a Christian, yet he is shaky on the whole death and resurrection stuff. He an agnostic on the God dying for our sins part. If he sees it as some phoenix rising story, then he just doesn't get it. Christ is the lens in which you look thru to read the bible. If you miss the Christ part, then you can't get any use out of the bible other that some rules for living right and some incredible stories.

I agree with you partly on that. But that doesn't mean that just because you miss the Christ part, that you can't extract the moral teachings from the Bible. I don't know what's in Dr. Peterson's heart when it comes to Christ as savior, he's kind of gone back and forth on it, but to say that he doesn't get or understand the teachings from the Bible isn't correct. Because if you listen to what he's said about even the early stories from the Bible, he clearly gets what the scripture is trying to convey and he believes that it is correct in all matters of life.

Harris is the better debater hands down.

He actually started a small skirmish before that. I lost it when Affleck said he was bring racist. Bruh, Muslim ain't a race.

Which one do you enjoy listening to more?
Depends upon the subject being discussed. Peterson's strengths are in the humanities, discussions about the climate on universities over the last 20 years, nietzsche, dostoyevsky, carl jung, self improvement, and aspects of clinical psychology that relate to all of those.
Harris is very strong on artificial intelligence, ethics, free will, meditation, neuroscience as it relates to religious experience, Buddhism, consciousness, biology, and occasionally more basic sciences.
They are both very interesting people who will sometimes deeply please and sometimes deeply enrage their audience. Who you prefer probably mostly depends upon your areas of interest and common values. They are not entirely different people but the differences between them are areas they would probably never tire of disagreeing upon.
I don't think either one of them neatly falls within a political description although both will be described by their opponents as radical - mostly because people are intolerant of any disagreement rather than either one being especially intemperate by any reasonable political scale.
Harris for example enrages some on the left by talking with Charles Murray, criticizing Islam, talking positively about gun rights, and disparaging the modern university climate. But enrages some on the right by loathing Trump and being more traditionally liberal (or at least libertarian) on many social issues. He is probably the kind of guy who has traditionally voted Democrat but finds himself poorly represented by both parties at this point in American politics. His discussions about who was a worse choice as president last go around were pretty much a shite sandwich versus giant douche dilemma that ended with him hating the shite sandwich enough to vote against him.

Thinking about picking it up. Would you recommend?

both obviously very intelligent and have interesting ideas but I prefer reading/listening to Harris as his ideas seem more rooted in evidence/reality and Peterson tends to speculate and apply his own internal experiences outward and present them as fact.
EDIT: I do love Peterson's interview with Cathy Newman

There are like 1.5 billion Muslims and around 15 million Jews that would disagree with you, we kinda share most of it with them.

Harris is also a real scientist whereas Peterson will always be a soft scientist.
Harris has a PhD in neuroscience, but has done zero research in many years. He has like a single publication in the literature. He quit to write about religion and spirituality and stuff. Calling him a scientist is completely wrong. He’s a science fan.
Peterson has decades of research and publications in clinical psychology (granted a “social science”, but one of the “harder” ones.). Not to mention experience with thousands of clients and hours of lecturing. He’s thought more about the stuff he says than Sam.
That said, i follow both of them pretty closely and have learned a TON from the Waking Up podcast.

I have only recently discovered Peterson and been very impressed so far.
I had never heard of Sam Harris and did a quick google search and this was one of the first things to pop up. If he is this intellectually dishonest or just plain stupid then I can't take anything else he says seriously.
