It is the cheapest airline IF you are on a nonstop flight with just the clothes on your back.

ETA: AND you don't order a drink or snack during the flight.

absolute crap
They nickle and dime you so much that you rarely end up saving any money in the end.

Those bastards even charge for tap water on 3 hour plus flights. Seriously, f&%k Spirit.

Once out of Tampa. We deplaned twice. 2 different aircrafts, they looked at me crazy when I said I wasn't taking their 3rd try at flying.

Probably the worst airline in the US. I flew with them once, in 2008. Had a terrible experience, and my friends and I were convinced the pilot was drunk and slurring his announcements.

Several friends have flown with Spirit more recently, and everyone has hated it.

Southwest >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Spirit.

No one ever.....

Although I use them everytime I fly to Dallas.... It is less than 100 RT and I've never had a delay or other issue. Flight is an hour long, they've always left on time, and yes it is cramped, yes you have to pay for everything, be prepared, not an idiot.

Yes, but I don't like to talk about it.

Used it before on a few occasions. The actual flight experience was okay. Took off early, landed early.

However, you will spend about as much as you would on another airline, and feel angry about how much you are paying. They absolutely ream you on bags. Something like $50.00 to check a bag that is under 30lbs. And gosh forbid you are over 30lbs. Prepare thy anus. They also charge you between $50-$60 for carryons. If you and the person you are traveling with both plan on checking one or two bags, and taking one or two carryons, you are looking at about an additional $400.00 roundtrip. You really need to plan ahead, including weighing your bags.

They charge for drinks on the flight. Not too big of a deal, but annoying.

They charge you to board priority. Don't get suckered into that. They also charge you to pick a seat. You may be tempted to do that, to the extent that you want to sit beside the person you are traveling with. However, if you bought two tickets, they will put those two tickets beside one another without regard to whether you purchased your seat. That can be an additional $40.00 each way, so just watch out.

Get your boarding pass printed before hand. They charge for that as well.

In short, you need to plan ahead. Spirit can be inexpensive, and a lot of the flight times are solid. I have found, on several occasions, that they offered the best non-stop flight.

I hear if you fly naked, bring nothing, don't pick your seat, don't want a snack, and don't use the bathroom it can be a pretty cheap flight.

Last Vegas to Houston flight I paid more for my bag to fly in the cargo hold than my arse in the seat. Round trip $52 for me and $80 for my bag.

RT from New Orleans to Ft. Lauderdale for 75.00.

I brought a medium sized back pack that fit under the seat in front of me. I was staying at a friends house so I didn't bring many personal items. Took two changes of clothes and brought on my own water. Also print your boarding pass at home. I would do it again.

They have a $18 flight from Tupelo, MS to Nashville, TN. I have a buddy who does that flight at least 6 times a year. He says it's solid. Probably gonna go that route soon.

I believe the airline is named for what they remove from each of their passengers.

It is great for a short flight by yourself with just a backpack. You cannot beat $25 one way from MSY to IAH for a day trip. I find the seats to get really unbearable (and I’m just an average size guy) if my flight is more than an hour or so. I did 2.5 hr flight and wanted to jump out I got so uncomfortable...or pay for the big front seat, which is like a first class seat but without a separate cabin or service.

Also, know about and be smart about their fees when booking. Ex: pay for bags before getting to the airport, print your boarding pass at home or use your phone, etc. all that costs more at the airport.
