as an actual organization that will and is doing extensive research and interviews etc., you got to draft the one you fall in love with. Whether it be his leadership or intangibles or something even about his tangibles that sets him a part from the others. I'm not saying don't draft barkley but say cleveland says Mayfield is our guy... if they think they can pull a Barkley Mayfield trick off,, then do it. but bottom line, you got to get THE qb you are aiming for.

The Browns could’ve and should’ve broke the bank for Kirk Cousins. Then drafting SB no.1 would make perfect sense. But they let him get away.

I just think it's funny that they draft a QB basically every year & they still haven't found one.

Darnold, Rosen, and Allen. Darnold is the best in the group and will be a franchise QB baring injury.

How many times will they pass on a Wentz, Goff, or Watson to go for a stud in the draft with the first pick and try to get a QB later on.

I would normally agree with this, but they have the #1 & #4 picks. Barkley & Chubb will go top 4, so at least 2 of the top 3 QBs will be there at 4. I do not think their is a big risk for them to not take a QB @1 if they do not see a lot of separation between the 3. If they have 1 guy standing out over the others, then they HAVE to take that guy #1.

Other side of the argument, if they don't have 1 of the 3 standing out above the others; chances are this is not the year to use a top pick on QB.

Take Barkley #1 and trade back to take Mayfield.

Would be a solid move for them.

Sooner or later, Cleveland will get it together like Jacksonville just managed to do.

Sometimes all it takes is 1 player.

I probably would too.

1. They're probably going to add a QB like Case Keenum or AJ McCarron.
2. There's no clear cut #1 QB prospect so one of them will fall to #4. shite, Indy probably isn't taking QB and there's a chance the Giants might not either.
3. There's a steep fall off from Barkley to the next best RB prospect.
4. Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette proving RB's can carry mediocre QBs to W's.

Simply to add yet another name to the career ending team legacy.

as others have said in this thread, they likely have a guy they like. This isn't fantasy football; you don't just "take the one thats left over". If they have 2 they like, then yea, you might see that happen. I think once it gets down to it, the pressure will be on to take a QB with the first pick. It's already starting.

If all of those QB's are rated evenly,

I trade the number 1 pick for more picks in the draft, including the trading teams 1 and 2. If this guy is so good of a back to take at 1, they will give a 1 and 2. Then I take the QB at 4. I use the other first and second round picks to start working around him. Clear up any holes on the Line and get a Good WR to go with him. Maybe even that TE from South Carolina as well.

Because let's be honest... The Browns aren't a RB and a QB away from a winning season. A team with that little wins in the last three years has holes all over the place. Get the most picks you can get for that number 1.

I don't see any of these guys being an upgrade over what they have.

Darnold, Rosen, and Allen are the most meh QB prospects in quite some time. Mayfield could end up being a franchise guy, but he's very likely to be there at 4.

If they can get Barkley and Mayfield, with their o-line they might just be able to start building some success.

Let’s say Darnold is the guy they like. Colts at 3 aren’t taking a qb. Giants have long been rumored to like Rosen, if they even draft a qb. Basically, Browns have a chance to get the top player in the draft, and still get their qb.

If they take Darnold first, they miss out on the top two players while having two top 4 picks. None of these qb’s stand out as that definite number 1 overall guy.

They can't risk this. There's no odds that make this worth it. On the assumption Darnold's the favorite in the room, the odds of him still being at four are practically zero. The Giants may take him, the Colts may in fact take him, or 5 teams may trade up for him.

Screwing around with the QB position is exactly why this franchise sucks. They would have been faaaaar better off just rolling the dice every year with a 1st round QB.

i think its the threat of a team trading up that will worry them

No, but they are likely to trade with a team to move up in front of Cleveland to potentially take the QB Cleveland really likes. It’s too much of a gamble if they like 1 guy more than the others. Which they almost certainly do(or will).

I like Barkley, however they need a franchise QB. Don't gamble on the 4th pick. Go with your top pick QB. There could be a run on the QBs after that.

When 4th pick comes up, a desperate team could be betting the farm on moving to that pick to get whatever remaining QB is there.

Cleveland trade downs and acquires extra picks, you can still get Chubb or Guice later in the first round.

I am a little bias towards SEC running backs because of the talent they practiced and played against, and these guys were successful against a lot of SEC defenses.

dumb, no stand out QB and they have a million picks this draft. Why are they drafting QB's early, bring in a FA that's proven to be respectable at least(over pay him, who cares, they have a ton of cap). Barkley at #1 for sure

there are countless ways to build something.

1-take barkley #1
2-sign FA qb (knowing that this is not your "franchise qb")
3-build the oline
4-THEN look for the franchise qb

Follow the method of how Dallas built their offense. Dak, at this point, is average at best. But he has put up decent stats due to the running game/oline.

So essentially continue doing what Cleveland has been doing? That is working out great for them. They need to take the best QB in the draft at number 1 overall which is Darnold it isn't that hard. Unless they get Kirk Cousins in free agency which will not happen, then just go get the best QB in the draft.
