Car seats for kids

I have two car seats that I no longer need. Is there a place to donate these for people that may be a little cash strapped? Thanks.

Craigslist. May not have a lot of luck anywhere else as used car seats have been stigmatized by Big Baby.

Check Facebook for Baby Stuff Consignments, I forget what they call them but you can buy/sell used stuff. My wife got a lot of shite there and sold a lot of it back because most of this shite is just a screw job new.

Babies R Us usually has a buy back promotion every so often.
Personally I’ve just put baby stuff (car seat included) on the curb and people have just grabbed it

Actually...,it could be more about the integrity of the car seat and it’s ability to properly protect the baby. Older car seats could be part of a recall, or not using latest technology that could better protect in a car crash. The plastic could be breaking down, etc. Also...any car seat involved in a car accident needs to be replaced.
You can look online and find several articles about that. From what I just looked up...6 years is a average lifespan for one.

first please make sure the seats are not expired, have never been in a wreck, etc. before donating. there is a group on Facebook (I know, Facebook is trashy) called Baton Rouge Carseat Safety. The lady who runs it does demos and safety checks. She will take expired seats or you can ask there for anyone who is in need.

Yeah I know. I'm still right in the middle of the three different new car seats for each kid phase myself. I've listened to the you must buy a new car seat, technology is totally changed in just a couple years, the heat and cold have compromised the car seat, etc speech quite a bit. Makes you feel like a child abuser for even thinking about letting 2 year old Sally use the car seat that 5 year old Johnny just outgrew. That propaganda works too - my wife has bought new ones every time.

I know for sure that I wont get old car seats for my kids. There are several reasons why CR don't recommend consumers buy used car seats, and responsible parents should be aware of them: As a buyer, you usually can't be 100 percent sure of a secondhand car seat's history, including whether it has been involved in a crash, its expiration date as set by the manufacturer, and its recall status.
It's most crucial to know whether a secondhand car seat has ever been involved in a crash. Even if the seat looks undamaged, crash forces could have stressed the components in ways that aren't visible, thereby reducing its ability to protect a child in the future. Please read more info and only then make the calls
