In classifying them..for sale. Sure.

You guys are on a thin branch when you say the largest seller of firearms by volume in the US can't be relied on to properly classify said firearms.

Palmetto State Armory just classified all their AR-15s as "hunting rifles."

Now what?

Well this doesn't really do anything to reduce gun violence now does it>

Researching the causes and ways to prevent gun violence would certainly have an impact on gun violence over time.

We have this.

We do not.

So you're not for compromise I take it?

"Universal" is one of those words that means something in English...do you speak English?

What's wrong with shall issue laws?

As already explained, it allows Republicans to underfund the NICS so as to make it inoperable. If you're flagged but not outright denied and you can still be sold a gun because that's how Republicans want it, that's not a very useful system.

Infringement on the 2nd. And a pretty blatant one.

This is in no way an infringement on your right to bear arms.

This means what exactly?

Again..English, do you speak it?

What makes a hunting rifle a hunting rifle? Details please.

This is what sparked all the foolishness about classification. I said it's best to defer to those who know these weapons best - the large volume sellers. I'll defer to them.

What impact would this have had on any of the previous mass shootings?

What possessed you to think the only goal was to prevent mass shootings? We have an everyday shooting epidemic here.

Ditto.

Specifically these might have allowed Florida police to confiscate Cruz's weapons, etc. Again, goal isn't to only prevent mass shootings.

So why are Mini-14s good, but AR-15s not?

Didn't learn Latin either, did you? "e.g." means something there

And if I can do the exact same thing using rubber bands and a youtube video?

The goal is to add more hurdles - you can never stop every madman from doing every crazy thing that might enter into his head. What you can do is make it harder for him to carry out an act that will harm others.

I’m pretty sure I can use my 3D printer to print the lower of an AR-15. I am also pretty sure that the resulting lower has been tested to be good up for hundreds of rounds (which for freaking ABS plastic, would be pretty amazing to me)

It’s off topic, but interesting to note that the additional legislation gun control advocates are fighting for that I’ve heard are already behind technology and will only be getting more and more obsolete. In five seconds one can download a lower online from open source websites like GrabCAD.

I'm gonna take Merriam-Webster as a better source for definitions of English words than whatever's rattling around in your brain after 3 whiskeys tonight.

You have not the slightest clue where I went to med school. You know, some people don't commit academic incest...

They're not the largest volume seller in the country. Luckily for me.

Of course. You also thought it was a good idea to jump straight into a Wikipedia copy/paste.

Since Dicks and Walmart don't sell them anymore, does that mean we can totally discount their opinion on the matter? I mean, they aren't the largest volume sellers anymore.

I don't have to pass a background check when I purchase a firearm?

Odd...then what was that I had to pass when I bought my last firearm?

It's universal. All people buying a weapon from a FFL dealer have to pass one.

As already explained, it allows Republicans to underfund the NICS so as to make it inoperable.

This doesn't address shall issue laws in any way.

I say I don't want to have my weapons registered. What now? "You can't own one."

Ya, that's pretty much the definition of "shall not be infringed."

Again..English, do you speak it?

That isn't an explanation.

This is what sparked all the foolishness about classification. I said it's best to defer to those who know these weapons best - the large volume sellers. I'll defer to them.

PSA is a large volume seller. AR-15s are hunting rifles to them. Problem solved!

Also, you could just say "I don't know jack shite about firearms."

quote:

What possessed you to think the only goal was to prevent mass shootings? We have an everyday shooting epidemic here.

So then you're form the banning of all semi-automatic weapons right?

You didn't answer my question.

Rubber bands and youtube isn't much of a hurdle.

Nah, because they had to determine out how to classify them in order to know what to stop selling. They didn't just stop selling the AR-15 after all.

Why? The Lower receiver takes little punishment. It is the piece that joins all parts of the rifle together. The upper receiver is the part that takes all the punishment.

How large of a volume seller does one have to be to have the authority to define types of weapon?

Volume of sales please. By weapon.

What do you think Walmart and Dicks classify that part as?
