Babbel, a popular language-learning app, polled Generator Hostel workers across Europe to find out which American accents sounded the most attractive to foreign ears — and it appears they’re feeling a little Southern comfort.

I don't have an accent but you do.

I wonder what they would have thought of a River Rat (think Lutcher/Gramercy) accent?

I feel like they’re probably thinking of the regal South Carolina/Georgia type accent. More foghorn leghorn than some bama trailer trash.

Exactly. They're thinking Francis Underwood not Alabama hick.

Everyone loves our Southern drawl.

I'd like to see where they would rate the Orgeron accent.

Europeans are down with the baws

What is a Texan accent? Matthew Mcconaughey?

What is this? Like hippie beach bum surfer?

Some Alabama is fine and genteel sounding, but Alabama also has this unique, high pitched "mah diddy said Bahr was gawd" accent that is borderline Barney Frank

So, it would appear that 35% of European hostel workers have horrible taste in American accents.

Watch Bernie and you’ll get a general idea of a east Texas accent. Basically I general southern rural accent

I would imagine most southerners that travel to Europe are the ones that have a more subtle southern accent.
I dont think you have many true hicks taking summer vacations in the south of france

And the Minnesota accent isn't exactly music to my ears.
Anyone have any distinct examples of a Midwestern accent? I just know they say "warsh" instead of "wash".

Generally speaking (no pun intended) from my time at Auburn I found that the Southern Alabama accent was generally much better than northern. Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, etc. had the more annoying as hell and higher pitch. Montgomery and south especially Mobile generally has closer to the lower pitch like most of south Georgia.

I have a country bayou accent that drives women up north wild

No way that's the third best accent in the country. Only the Minnesotan is worse.
