Just wondering how everyone's vegetable gardens are doing. My plants are still under grow lights inside, but doing well. My potato boxes are starting to sprout, my herb beds are doing well, and I'm about to transfer my tomato plants to the beds.

I'm planting my first 12 row 40 foot phase. I'm going to plant a total of 3 phases 10 days a part.

I'm halfway planted. And once again my Cherokee Purple is already looking sick. The only damn tomato I can't grow.

During the week I’ve been slowly getting it ready. Pulled the visqueen vapor barrier off, spread fertilizer and soil amenities, tilled, made rows, set up the trellis, added weed barrier paper between the rows, and mulched between the rows. My garden isn’t going to be big. Just planting tomatoes and cucumbers.

A few of my cucumber plants are ready to go in the ground. Probably a few of my tomatoes also. Might do that today.

ETA: once everything is planted I’ll top off the rows with a little bit mulch.

Gonna hijack this thread slightly.

I'd like to start some gardening but am not in a position to plant in ground so I'm looking to do planters.

I don't eat tomatoes (do make homemade salsa though), okra, corn, or peas. So I guess more onions, herbs, carrots, or potatoes.

I'm not really sure where to start. Can any if you point me in the right direction to start?

Got my tomatoes in the ground this week. My garden is very small and I started everything from seeds. I used those little hockey puck looking pods in a tray from home depot. Did well just require I a lot of watering. Also have some carrots, chives, and 1 broccoli and 1 cauliflower plant.

Most difficult thing is keeping my 2 year old little girl out of the garden. She has already dug up and killed one tomato plant.??

I planted some Bell Peppers, Tomato, Cucumber, and Jalapeno last week. I noticed a slight yellowing on the peppers yesterday. What fertilizer to yall recommend? Its a raised garden if that matters

Next Wednesday's temperatures are predicting lows of 36 where I'm at. That's getting close to the danger zone

Havent been able to plant shite for two years now because of all the rain. If I had room Id start inside like you and go from there. We tried a raised bed and even that fricker flooded two years ago. So much rain in North Louisiana last two years.

I have a decent assortment of tomatoes which have been in the ground 2-3 weeks: creoles, Cherokee purple, Bonnie’s Favorite (a new hybrid from Bonnie Farms), and a couple Better Boys. They are all planted in galvanized cattle troughs. I staked and tied them today. They’re about 2 feet, flowering, with a few small tomatoes.

I also have cucumber vines in 2 locations in my yard w trellises against the fence.

Well, I hadn't really intended to have a full blown garden but I planted a couple of tomato plants and got the planting bug. I expanded to adding eggplant, onions, red and sweet potatoes, three different bell peppers, now four different tomatoes, jalapeno peppers(of course), cantaloupe, herbs-dill, rosemary, parsley, chives and probably one more to come. Will be planting three different green beans, cucumber, zucchini and squash in a couple of weeks. Good thing I wasn't going to plant much!

Bump for updates..

I planted in my raised bed about a month ago ( all from store-bought plants)

Patio tomato- Probably the star of my garden. Took a little while to get established, but now its probably 2ft tall, and a bright, vibrant green color with tons of new growth.

Jalapeno- The black sheep of the garden. Had some flea beetle issues, then the leaves started turning yellow, and curling. Hit 'em up with some epsom salt and now they seem to be turning a corner. the new top leaves are bright and good looking.

Sweet Banana pepper - consistent growth, kinda leggy.

Habanero- SLOW GROWER. The rain we got on saturday seemed to kick it into gear because yesterday it looked taller, and has TONS of new growth coming in underneath.

Straightneck squash- Consistent, leaves bigger than my hand now.

Cucumbers- really good growth, and they have started to climb the trellis. I have never had luck with these, so hopefully I can get em to produce.

Nothing has flowered yet, but I'm still cautiously optimistic.

Is it too late to start a garden? I have a couple potted plants doing well but with the rain and tee ball haven’t had time to do one during the weekend

I sell to a few groceries so I grow a good size garden. I have a little over 300 tomatoes planted and have been picking large and grape tomatoes for 2 weeks. Squash and zucchini for about a month now. I plant really early.
