Hmm...I seem to remember something happening to the gold standard in 1971. I wonder if that had any impact on unrestrained govt spending.

The damage that Obama did to our debt will continue to linger for decades to come.

It was part of his plan, his communist plan, to bankrupt the U.S. All anyone need do is read the Cloward-Piven Strategy to understand what it is I am referring-to.

That’s called pointing out your hypocrisy..
How do you not realize that by assuming he (an economist) was some lesson who was completely OK with massive debt growth of the Obama years, so you could go on some outraged diatribe about that terrible debt growth, that you only speed that your kids as much of the hypocrite you're accusing him of being?

In fact, if you actually cared about the debt, not only should you be outraged about the current debt increases, you should be happy that the hypocrites have finally found a reason to support the issue you care about. So you appear to be more of hypocrite given your selective outrage, unsupported assumptions, and failure to embrace more support for the cause.

Are you referring to tax LEGISLATION? I'll give Trump his due for supporting it and signing it. However, you're going to lecture people for blaming Trump and not congress, then you better not be solely crediting Trump and not congress for legislation.

cutting taxes while also increasing military spending is the recipe he chose.

econ 101 you don't need to cut taxes or increase spending when the economy is on an upswing.

i did and it was more of the same from you. lots of people could see what was going on, reported on it multiple times, supported it with info from the agencies themselves and you act like baghdad bob.

and here you are still acting intransigent about it. i think it's less likely that you're just incredibly obstinate and more likely that you have some sort of mental illness.

and you still haven't answered my question in THIS thread

no

i have said all along (even during the obama years) that the president only has an indirect effect on the economy. obama sucked and the economy was the outworking of his crappyness. trump did what we need a president to do, which is give us the opportunity to do what we need to do.

and then along comes nutty90 to make a thread about, what? he specifically called out trump in the op but posts a graph that very much relies on congress, et al. then rambles on about a bunch of minutia that has nothing to do with the implication of the op. given his schizo performance in the other thread, this doesn't surprise me at all.

says who? the tax cut was very much needed. in fact, it was quite minimal and conservatives were a little irritated that it was only lip service instead of true tax reform, i.e. flat tax, etc. also, the military very much needs increased spending. badly

Keep clammoring about the deficit, Democrats. You are only painting yourself into a corner when you are going to start having to take the entitlements away from much of your voting block.

So how had government gotten out of the way other than tax reform, when it's just as big has ever been, let alone how hasn't gotten out in any noticeable way?

It's almost like you're just making this up.

What did he do that he needed to do? Unless you mean not doing much of anything new, which I would agree is a good thing in general when it comes to government.

But if three tarrifs go through, then you can pretty much throw that away though because that's just government getting in the way again.

Praying GDP doesn't rise? First of all, it's been forever since GDP "didn't rise."

Stop sniveling and snotting for a second about me and you'd see that I note all the time that the economy is doing well.

For an example, take a look at my GDPNow tracker thread, where I just bumped to note a good revision and good indicators just yesterday morning!

Oh, yeah. That's the good stuff. It usually irks me when people try to derail threads. But these melts where y'all so desperately try to attack me rather than face the item discussed, it really ain't bad.

Just got through pointing out how we the republicans were labeled as wanting to let people die when they tried using the power of the purse to control government spending last time. And now these same people who had no issue with obama more than doubling the debt by spending away have an issue with Trump increasing the debt? There’s no way you expect to be taken seriously. You’re on par with Nancy Pelosi telling everyone that the recent tax cuts were Armageddon and that people were literally going to die. Still triggered, try going outside and screaming at the sky. It seems to help your type.

We are fricked but we have known this was coming.

Trump was never interested in this in his campaign and both parties seem to be in a race to outspend each other when they are in power.

Pathetic and the chickens will come home to roost.

Having only two parties is costing the present and future of this country. They're bought and paid for. Drain the Swamp should begin at the WH down to City Halls.

Wow! This is fricking shocking, IMPEACH 45! If anyone other than Trump had been elected POTUS we would be on our way to a fiscally responsible Federal government with a balanced budget. We've been hoodwinked, bamboozled, flimflammed I tell ya!
