Disagree.
I'm more comfortable w a 19 year old trained marine handling a gun over just a random 40 year old (who may or may not have any experience/training).
Raising the minimum age of the military offers no upside.....

I raised my kids around guns. My youngest daughter (13) could outshoot any gang banger that carries around a stolen pistol every day. It's all about training. Hell, I trained all of my kids to break down, clean and reassemble every gun they've ever shot- before they got to shoot them. And then I watched them clean them afterwards too.
The military trains our children the same way with these firearms. There is absolutely no reason to deny military personnel 18+ the ability to purchase and use whatever legal firearm they want.

I did purchase it. Nothing is free and it was a want and not a need. Therefore, I had to pay for it.

18 year old military members can't buy handguns, yet still carry sidearms.

No.
But I do believe that if you are serving at the age of 18 that you should receive a waiver and be allowed to drink, on post only, and that once you complete your basic and advanced courses and have been with your TONE unit for at least six months ... then you should receive a waiver that allows you to buy a long gun.
If you live in the barracks you'd be required to store it in the armory.
If you are married and live off post ... then you get an off-post U.S. Military permit.
Those who serve should receive special privleges IMHO.

I think 18 year olds should still be able to join military. But in non-combat roles until they are 21.

I’m ok w 18 year olds buying weapons if they can prove they have firearm training similar in nature to the military

My grandson is 18 years old, joined the U.S. Army. Willing to fight and die for our freedom. You do not hear or see people out protesting that !8 year old is not responsible enough to defend our freedom. 18 year olds are responsible enough to be issued driving license, allowed to work and pay taxes, allowed to vote, People say " yes this is their RIGHTS, but some say but they should be denied their 2nd amendment RIGHT. To young or not responsible enough. OK, let’s change voting rights and everything else to 21 age. Keep them as children until they are 21 then they can leave home and be adults I know that some are not responsible but I know people that supposed to be adults who are not. We are a country of laws so we just follow the rules of what our government decides are best for us. But what is a Right and what is a privilege, i think a lot of us do not know. (Crazy times in this country) Right verses left. The country voted Right. Left lost so let us protest and resist.

So at 10 years old you walked into a gun store and purchased a gun? GTFOH. This law is about licensed dealers so like I said before your point has no relevance to this post

Disagree. I think the age of 18 is important. There are many young men (and women) that basically are saved from a life of crime and wrongdoing because they go straight into the military out of high school. If you raise the age to 21, many of those people will continue with their ways and not enter the military when they are 21.

You already have to store it in the Arms Room (or Armory) if you live in the barracks.

Seems as though that should be the case. Just like alcohol, they can't buy it, so it's illegal to supply it to them.

Make everything 21 across the board. Voting, draft, enlistment, drinking, gambling, etc. Kids are too dumb these days.

So 18 year olds CAN be trusted with guns?
What confers this ability to be trusted? Enlistment? Does enlistment automatically make an individual more reasonable or improve their judgement?
