Got my first gun when I was 10 IIRC.

Why do we need to exclude 18-20 year olds from owning guns?

Sure.

But many possess and use them as art of their job.

and carry them on their person.

They also have extensive training, live under a strict code of conduct and follow a chain of command.

I think there is some logic in allowing bad apples to prove themselves to be bad apples before being able to purchase firearms.

If you are not mature enough to handle a gun, are you mature enough to drive a car?

Reactionary (Trump). I hope he comes to his senses.

Emotional pansies (Dems). I hold no hope that they will ever come to their senses.

No. I think military is a good thing for many young folk. Provides a structure some never had.

The military members and their spouses will be exempt from this law. Now what's your issue?

Why? Military members don't have to buy their own weapons they are issued and what does a spouse have to do with military weapons?

And yet crime rates tend to be higher in military towns.

So. . . .

so the extra 2-3 years?

Why not set it at 40, then? 75?

Got my first shotgun at 11 y.o. and used to traipse through the woods, alone, hunting squirrels.

No, the age to buy a gun should come down if you have a record of service or a military ID.

Well, the biggest group that the ground services take in every year is combat arms, nevermind that everyone has to qualify with their primary weapon every year (with some exceptions in the Marine Corps for previous excellence).

So no, there isn’t anything much bigger than laying rounds on target with your primary weapon (usually M-16/M-4/M-9)
