ETA: I didn't know about the Chicken Shack. I knew of the orginal(gone) and Acadian. There's THREE ???
Well damn. I didn't know there was one up by Southern... it looks to be fairly new.
I went to the one on Pawtucket a good bit when I used to work up there.

I didn't know but one.
Apparently there's one in Plaquemine as well, or did he mean Plaquemines Parish?

Pretty sure it was on the news. The food from before didn’t seem impressive. Guess they haven’t improved on it.
On the news? On same random Tuesday during the 5:30 news broadcast?

It was. I thought they advertised the conversion pretty well. I knew about it and we discussed "going try it sometime" but never followed through. I recall the advocate and the digbr articles. Those two are very visible sources in BR.

Someone needs to ask him how local places like Parrains, Louisiana Lagniappe, and even Mike Anderson's can hang around amidst all this chain foolery

Because they have really good food and a good atmosphere, unlike pelican house.

It was cool when it first opened. Last time I’d been though was on a Sunday for an lsu game last year and they were dead as hell and half their draft beers they were out of. Also worst boudin balls I’ve ever had, they had a weird crust to them.
The main pro: great secret spot if you’re into ufc. They showed all the PPV events and was never crowded

Southern location has been around probably 30 years or so. He used to have a few more that he franchised out but closed them and now only 3. I like the Pawtucket but normally go to North Acadian location. I like the red beans better there.
Get a big shack sandwich or big fish sandwich either for under 2 bucks and a deal.

I went there for brunch once a few months back...extremely bland. Guy may have a point but his place wasn't exactly a beacon of originality

You sure?
Look at Google Street view on 5/13 (from the side street) and the building is still an operating Popeye's.
Then once you get to Scotland Ave. on 6/15 it's a Chicken Shack.
Unless they moved, which is a totally possible explanation.

Lets see...
- they had issues charges customers cover charges AFTER the customers were already in the bar
- The advertised certain specials and didn't alert customers they had a stipulation attached
- They tried to charge to watch Saint's games
- Seems they did not rotate taps/never had certain beers
- Wait staff was extremely poor
- Bar tending staff was no knowledgeable of beer
