My camp in Concordia Parish sits atop a man made bluff. I’ll be fine, thanks.

Are we talking 2011 river levels?

ETA: I see the crest in 2011 was 45 feet so it's not too far off.

5' of river stage is huge.

That's crazy.

2011 was the worst flood in the Mississippi River since 1937... not good at all...

The flow rate difference in 5’ is exponentially more

Getting to 45 feet is a long, long way away. First, it got to 45 feet while Morganza was open, which helped tremendously. Second, the amount of water it takes to get the river from 41 to 45 feet is exponentially more than it takes to go from 37 to 41 feet.

No. Not close. Plus this is water from the Ohio Valley, which is a slower flow than flooding from the lower portion of the Mississippi watershed.

It depends. The stage graph only takes into account water that is already on the ground. If we get more rain through the valley or enough down here to keep things soaked and slow the flow, then it could reach that level. Another factor would be warm weather melting the snows that fell last week. Again, none of this is used in the predictions.

How high did the Mississippi get when it got real high in like 2011/2012? How does this year's projection compare?

It doesn’t matter. This entire thread will consist of people arguing back and forth whether or not it’s going to be as high as 2011 or not.

45' in BR. Right now projection is 41'. But 4 feet on a river this big moving that fast at those levels, is a lot of water. Regardless, 41' will still cause trouble in a lot of places.

Before any LA spillway, it got to 57.1 feet at Vicksburg. It got to 48.5 feet last spring, for reference.

This is the current projection and very close to the crest.
