Offensive line coach James Cregg says what drew him to LSU

James Cregg said only one college coach could have persuaded him to leave the NFL coaching ranks when he did, and that coach was LSU's Ed Orgeron.
"I wouldn't have come back to college football to work for anybody else besides Coach O," Cregg said Thursday in an interview with ESPN Baton Rouge radio.
"It's unbelievable to me how he changed the whole culture over there, how much the guys believed in him," he said. "I saw that in the players' eyes. I've never seen players cry in a group when he left and grown men cry when he left. He just had a special impact in that room."

"The experience in that room is phenomenal," Cregg said. "I don't think you get a harder worker than Steve Ensminger."
With his wife and daughter still back in California, Cregg said he spends much of his time in the football operations building studying film and working on video cutups.
"And he's here all the time in the office next door," Cregg said of Ensminger.

The addition of Sullivan appeared to draw notice from at least one NFL coach. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and his staff was in Washington to visit Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and his staff. But before they left Baton Rouge, Carroll asked coach Ed Orgeron to bring Sullivan along with him.
"So Jerry is out there clinic-ing their offense," Cregg said.

Because the agenda is obvious.
Everything he posts here is Orgeron-centric.

It's a direct quote though....it's not random opinion.

Sure but that doesn't discount the content in the article in any way.

So obvious a blind man could see it. The dumbass doesn't even to try to hide the fact that he's nut-hugging o's ball sack in damn near every one of his posts.

I think we all assumed he came to work for Orgeron because he likes the guy. Is that a surprise to anyone?

Cregg sounded like a bright guy from what I heard in today's interview. If OL play looks good this year, he may get an interview to remain with the next staff.

I think Miles proved that being close with your players (and coaches) doesn't necessitate winning at an extremely high level.
That being said, I'm glad to have Cregg on board. I think he's the only active, Orgeron hire who will be very good.

This will be the first of at least three for the day. Gotta hit that quota.

That one of the best OL coaches in football came to LSU to coach under O and said he wouldn’t have done it for anyone else?
Doesn’t that spit in the face of “all the rats are jumping off the ship! No one wants to work for Coach O!”?

quote:Pretty big list of posters who do the opposite. Ree didn't make that coach say those things, and it's board worthy stuff whether you agree with it or not.
