LSU - don’t let this fricking happen.

Whether you are Greek or not, this should be troubling.

Gotta make the parade grounds a corporate/bland environment dude.

I don't understand how LSU can dictate where a group, any group, is supposed to tailgate, especially if basically the entire campus is available for a tailgate to be set up. Is LSUPD going to patrol campus looking for frat stars and pledges?

The biggest, richest chapters at LSU couldn't move off campus and be anywhere near what they are on campus. For one thing, they couldn't afford the real estate.

So like exchanges too?

LSU trying to tell bars they can’t sell hard alcohol to legal adults.

I hope they also see a noticeable drying up of donations from Greek alumni.

Who said they think they are gonna stop it? They just have to show the attempt to stop it.

Considering this curb on drinking has been happening for nearly a decade now (The lady from Michigan who had a powerpoint on tailgating comes to mind). I believe some admins actually believe some of the hot air they keep pushing out there year to year.

Glad I went thru when it was still fun. I feel sorry for kids growing up these days.

it's not like LSU alums donate that much to LSU anyway in comparison to other schools. And the attachment of most Greek alums to their chapter wanes considerably once they're 5 or 10 year out of school. Greek alumni are first and foremost parents who don't want their kids to die. I guarantee you most will look at this as a pretty good thing, while at the same time having nostalgia for their own misadventures.

All of the fraternities and sororities should break out the tactic that bars used back in the 80's when they raised the drinking age to 21 but "private clubs" could still sell to 18 year olds. Have all members pay $1 to belong to a separate "club" and then they can claim that their tailgating is for those members.

My biggest issue is where does personal responsibility come into play? An 18 year old should be able to stand up for himself and know his/her own limits. They can fight in the military but god forbid they be at a party with hard alcohol. Jesus.

I like how they said adult supervision. I wasn’t aware that being 18 no longer meant being an adult is LSU’s eyes

you're confused. they didn't mean an adult. They meant an adultier adult. One that's done more adulting

This is hilarious. Will there be an age limit like "has to be 35 years old or above". What if they get one of their non greek 18 year old friends to be the supervision?

The irony of the shortened pledgeship is that there becomes a greater chance of sketchy people getting initiated. They should be required to make grades. Period. The full semester also gave time to weed out those with drug problems.
