I lived in a trailer for about a year in high school. Parents house burned while we were at our lake house. Rented a trailer and put it on our property while rebuilding.

Because people who live in houses never have financial struggles? And people who live in trailers are automatically poor?

So this is your trailer admit thread. It's ok. One day you'll graduate from taco bell.

Our home is in our RV which is a 40" 5th wheel with 4 slideouts. I'm sure some people consider that a trailer or close to it.

It's perfect for just the two of us. Bought it with cash and it is fully paid for. It has everything we need including a generator and the option to run on propane. It can easily be moved and we never have to pack again.

We are looking to buy land on the water and move there. Even then we are not interested in a real house, we will stay in our camper. Our kids are grown and we are mostly retired (although younger than retirement age).

Meanwhile we live at an RV Resort. For one monthly fee it covers all of our electricity , water, cable, internet, sewage, garbage pickup, yard maintenance, a pool, a hot tub, a dog park, a store on the premises, etc.

The people who own this place must be making a killing in profit. There was a thread a while back about the profitability of a trailer park but i think an RV Resort like this is a much bigger profit maker. They don't even have to pay a lot of wages for the large staff who work hear because they all get rent and all the amenities for free.

Pretty brilliant actually.

P.S. Go ahead with the obligatory "shitter's full" jokes and memes

My wife and I do. Sure id love to build a house but wife really doesn't want to. She says its money we don't need to spend. We both will eventually inherit 4500 acres and 6 houses. Should we really live these years while raising kids worrying about financial trouble? We don't stress over money and enjoy life. We have a pond and 400 acres outside that gives us plenty room to grow.

That happened to our family as well (minus the lakehouse, lol). Our house burned right before Christma sand we lost everything in the fire and so mom bought a trailer and rented land while looking for a house to buy. We were in it about a year I guess).

House fires suck
Even now I remember things I had before the fire and realize that the fire took them too.

Yeah, but you get remarried every few years. The mobility works for you.

About 20,000,000 Americans call a manufactured house their home. I have nothing against anyone living in a manufactured home. It's not the home that makes the person who they are. On a side note, the company I work for builds about 80% of the manufactured housing market's air conditioning air handling equipment. We own that world.

The wife in I started out in one for about two years till our first house was built. That was way back in 1979. Yes, interest rates back then was 16% for a car note and 11% for a house note.

I grew up in a trailer till around 8th grade. Wouldn't change it. We didn't have much money at the time, but we were never poor.

I have 2 divorces and they are 20 years apart. Before last year i never owned an RV or never lived in a trailer (except when our house burned down).

But yes, I am a fan of the "geographic cure" when needed. I did that after my 2 divorces and it was great. In both cases I found a whole new town by moving to go live someplace on the water.

I wish everyone who is going/ has gone thru a divorce could just move to camp on the water and chill out till they figure out their new life.

If you live in a $450 apartment in BR you'd probably die. I'd rather a trailer in the country

My grandpa just sold a 20 acre farm with house and large barn to move into a single wide with my uncle.
Though he is building new house. I just thought it was crazy to go from farm to trailer park.

I would gladly live in a trailer right now. I want to sell everything and move deep in the woods in two different spots. Don't feel like building right now. They make some fat ones these days for beans.

Buddy just sold his house in Flower Mound and he and his wife are living in an Airstream in the middle of Dallas. The trailer is at a Boarding House/Hotel he manages and is in a gated parking lot that only he has access to. They are going to build a house on some property in East Texas but are enjoying city life right now

I know a guy who bought a brand new double wide for 100k. Didn’t own the land it sat on and had to 40k of bad equity when he finally decided he wanted something nicer. They’re fine for what they are, but they're terrible investments. DSLD homes are complete shite. Same everything as a trailer, just with brick at the base instead of cinderblocks
