Same here. A nice doublewide with a yard would be an improvement.

Likewise. I sure could use that extra leg room. But I'd also miss living within walking distance of dozens of bars, restaurants, and music venues.

I did for the majority of my childhood, and my wife and I did for the first couple years of our marriage. I would have no problem selling our house, which is far too big, and moving back into a trailer.

Those are the reasons I don't really mind my apartment. But, yeah, it doesn't leave me any room to criticize trailers.

I'll admit my wife looked at a couple of triple wides from Palm Harbor before settling on building the house we own now. Those triple wides were super nice. They actually looked like houses and we're in the 3000 square foot range. Marble, tile, granites counter tops, solid wood construction, custom cabinets, vaulted ceilings, had everything you could think of. Also was $300k before the land and development. Couldn't even imagine spending that on a mobile home. They were nice though but just thinking if I ever had to sell the thing. What a nightmare.

Tried to convince my wife when we got married to buy some land and a trailer until we saved enough to build our dream home. She was having none of it.

I lived in one my sophomore year of college for $300/month all utilities and dish included. Didn't bother me one bit.

Not me; there aren't many trailers in NOLA but I don't see why trailers get such a bum rap. My hunting camp is a trailer in southern Arkansas.

I could see myself living in a trailer in the woods or on a lake when retire.

My formative years were in a trailer pulled behind my parents Packard while my dad worked pipeline during WWII.

That sounds like an awesome way to experience childhood and a hard way to experience adulthood.

My wife and I have kicked around the idea of buying acreage and living in a trailer while saving up for a dream home. Maybe borrow against the land to fund the house.

We purchased acreage and somehow sold our house before we got our new house built. Moved a mobile home on it and lived in it for 5 months while we were building. About half way through the build on the new house we actually had the discussion we could completely see how a family would like to buy more land and live in less house. It was too much of a change for us, we literally went from a house to 10% the square footage overnight. Had to buy a shipping container plus two storage units to keep everything in during the time.

But I completely see the reasoning behind it all. In theory it would be the right financial strategy. We bought it used and sold it for close to what we bought it for. Essentially lived rent free for that period.

I just want to add, there is nothing wrong living in a trailer if you are saving money and accumulating it elsewhere. If you live in one and buy new cars and toys, you're doing it all wrong, because it's just going to depreciate along with the junk you bought. That's why trailers are considered "trashy". If you live in them for life, you missed out on smart financial decisions and have misplaced priorities.

It's not a trailer, it's a Tornado Decoy.

I do believe a weatherman in the Huntsville, AL market was fired during the tornado outbreak for saying "if you live in a trailer, get out now, it will literally be thrown across the road". Next day, there were pictures of trailers across the road from where they were. I thought it was sound, straight to the point advice. Fickle society we live in.

Living in a trailer in Arizona wouldn't be near as bad as living in a trailer in BR...Both areas would need really good AC's, but in Arizona you don't have to worry about a trailers worst enemies, tornadoes & hurricanes.
