As publicly known as he was, I'm sure some things would have come out by now if there was any real bad stuff considering that he lived 99 years.

A typical reaction from those who opposed Rev Graham's moral principles:
quote:
Glad he’s dead, it’s a shame he lived this long. A sexist, homophobic scumbag, who created the “don’t be alone with a woman” rule that Pence has made famous, who said gay people deserved to die from AIDS and that homosexuality could be “cured”, he was a piece of shite who spend his whole life shoving his religious views down others throats and brainwashing them into joining his cult of oppression and hate. frick him and frick any televangelist and the shite they spew, who knows how many lives these assholes have ruined. It’s wonderful that he’s dead, and may his even more evil son bite the dust next.

I'm going to be honest, I vaguely knew who this was. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other about him.

Hell...Hades, Sheol, or Gehenna. It all means the samething and that is the common grave of mankind. The churches of Christendom and their corrupt leaders over the centuries have twisted the scriptures and lied about the origin of the meaning of hell to have power over the leity.

You can't say he wasn't a good man. Was he perfect, well of course not for no one is. But he was a good man who influenced many, many others.
Be prepared for the few idiot down voters who when compared with BG would be as noteworthy as a stump. It always amazes that the most critical among us are the ones who offer the least to benefit anyone but themselves!

Yes, Billy Graham was a man. We are all sinful by nature. But to try to portray him as some money grubbing bigot is pretty silly, I think. I realize that it makes some of you feel better about yourselves to do so, however.
We are sinners because of what Adam did and as long we die we are sinners, period. It is insane to try to spin it as if he and other "preachers" get a pass today when Matt. 10:8;9 says what it says straight from Jesus' mouth! We shouldn't be surprised, because this typical of Christendom and their following only parts of the bible to fit their doctrines.

Yeah like how your friend plagiarized Clay Travis.

So you take those two verses to mean that all preachers must be bivocational (or else simply not earn a living) because they can't earn a salary for preaching, right?

It's pretty clear some of you don't know who he is. Best not to post if thats the case.

Good man who seemed genuine and helped a lot of people.
That being said anytime a man like him passes I can't help but feel that, to some degree, his life was wasted. Once you get past all the motivational speaking and feel good vibes, at the heart of his message and his entire life's purpose was a fantastical fiction. In the end, his entire existence was built on a myth.
Despite clearly leaving a lasting legacy, one wonders what good men like him could have done in areas providing more objective good to the world.

Essentially everyone goes through life believing certain things that aren't true, but the majority don't have their very essence bound to a false idea. Even most religious individuals could drop religion without a dramatic change in their day to day life.
But a man like Graham devotes his existence almost solely to an idea that, if untrue, renders almost everything he did ultimately meaningless. Now one could argue everything is ultimately meaningless in that scenario but only from a universal and eternal perspective, not a subjective human one.
