In the past you could listen to top 40 pop radio and hear all genres. It's a shame now all we get is trash

I was a senior in high school and I can say that there are only about ten songs on that list that if they came on now I wouldn't change the station

I would never have guessed "Wasted on the Way" by CS&N came out in 1982. Would have put it in the 70s.

#73 - Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. The song is more popular now than then. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

82 was a great year for punk. My favorite album, Bad Brains - self titled cassette came out that year. Fear, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, and Angry Samoans all put out great records in 82. And the X album already mentioned is on my turntable right now.
Venom Black Metal and Witchfinder General Death Penalty were metal rippers released in 82.
All the pop stuff released in 82 was trash.

LOL Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" no. 1 song for the year, God was that music video awful and cheesy
But seriously folks, 1982 was crucial to music going forward because it oversaw the releases of two seminal albums and first single by three individuals (all three of whom born summer 1958) who would proceed to redefine the industry and influence countless artists TO THIS DAY
Madonna-Everybody (first single)
Prince-1999
Michael Jackson-Thriller
Little did anyone know that year how the entry of Madonna into the music industry and those album releases would blow up the way they did, we were truly blessed as a society

Time Out For Trivia: which song on that list actually mentions the year it came out in the lyrics?
