quote:

'We came here today to ask you to also look into the policies that religious charitable organizations have in our legislations so that it can also be changed because maternal love is the love that's going to change the future of mankind.'

At this point, Trudeau interrupted her and said: 'We like to say peoplekind, not necessarily mankind 'cause it's more inclusive.'

Not only does Trudeau engage in explicit mainsplaining, but his decision to use the term "peoplekind" directly excludes and ignores the very existence of those who do not identify as "people", such as wolfkin, dragonkin, and other animalkin. I will not even get into his patriarchal attitude manifesting itself by interrupting this woman and not allowing her to speak. I just can't even right now. This behavior is very problematic and I think someone like Trudeau should acknowledge his mistakes and apologize publicly.

also it's kind of strange to dismiss a person who wants to promote "maternal love", which is the opposite to toxic masculinity

YOUR MOVE, TRUDEAU

I think it's offensive bc the word "people" was used during a time when poc and women were second and third class citizens. Thus, the word has roots in white supremacy and the patriarchy.

I'm very disappointed in the PM.

I like to think that I am inherently much more "inclusive" than ANYONE who has ever thought for a fleeting second that the term 'mankind' means anything but the totality of all humanity.

Political Correctness needs to die. What we need is to promote decency towards others rather than try to assassinate characters based on (perceived) offensive statements.

i'm legit serious when i ask how a person can pay attention to the substance of what another says if you're so hyper-focused at finding triggering and/or gotcha opportunities in every comment

Total SJW wackadoodle.

What about furries like Rex? Peoplekind is not very inclusive of them.

SFP,

It must be difficult to pay attention and keep up when you are constantly referring to your pocket-sized list of acceptable words.

I think you should say "comPEOPLEt"...because comMENt uses "MEN" and is aggressive and constraining. Let's be inclusive, okay?
