He lit up Georgia.

The kid is Drew minus the maturity.

That's the big picture.

Giving up that much when you have Drew on the roster is stupid. If he falls to us fine, but we need to add pieces that can help us win now.

Yeah I do not want to lose picks, especially after the draft we just had.

I wouldn't be upset with it. If Brees has 2-3 good years left, no reason not to snag Mayfield if it's appropriate and let him sit for 2 years. If they get him in the first round it will be a 5 year rookie deal anyway.

I'd be all aboard. Brees probably has two years left I'd be willing to bet. He's almost the perfect replacement considering his play style. If Brees goes down God forbid, you have someone who can keep it rolling.

Don't you think that draft we just had actually gives us room to make a move like that? We got more studs in one draft than most teams get in 2-3 drafts.

This team is absolutely loaded with young talent. Look at this:

Lattimore - 21
M. Williams - 21
Kamara - 22
Bell - 23
Hardee -23
Hendrickson - 23
Lutz - 23
Ramcyzk - 23
Rankins - 23
Crawley - 24
M. Thomas - 24
P. Williams - 24
Coleman - 25
Onyemata - 25
Snead - 25
Armstead - 26
Te'o - 26
Warford - 26

The biggest problem we have is that Drew is 39, Ginn is 32 and Jordan is 29. The team needs to find long-term answers there. I want you to imagine if this team took Baker and he was a stud for us (which I personally believe he would be). Wow! All these guys PLUS a stud 25 year old QB? Talk about long-term success...

I don't want to have all this talent and waste it for 5 years looking for a QB. If you think a guy is the one, go get him. I'm sold.

The problem I see is that Drew Brees doesn't mentor.

He's stated he doesn't discuss tricks of the trade to maintain his competitive advantage.

Charles Robinson's tweet even refers to Brees' competitive nature in that it's not QB-room-charitable.

So after, say two years of bench warming, is it worth giving up a significant portion of this and next years draft class for basically the equivalent a 25 yo rookie?

Can someone elaborate? Brees messed up Grayson?

To me, that means Grayson didn't have the mental ability to run Sean Payton's offense.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Payton really likes him, nor would I be surprised to see the Saints consider moving up significantly to get him. Wasn't there a lot of talk that the Saints really liked and were ready to take Mahommes at 13 until KC jumped ahead of the Saints at 12? Certainly there had to be some reason KC moved up that far specifically to get ahead of NO.

While he doesn't have the arm of Mahommes, Mayfield is probably the closest thing to him among the top QBs AND Mayfield is probably a little more accurate and a better decision maker. Plus, while many may hate is on-field demeanor, you can't deny that the guy is a competitor. To go from walk-on QB to Heisman trophy winner is impressive.

Except maybe Darnold, I don't think the other QB's are all that impressive. Rosen has bust written all over him. When your HS coach and numerous teammates have indicated they don't particularly like you that's a big red flag to me. Allen just seems like the prototypical "measurements" guy without much productivity.

If the Saints are taking a QB in the first round this year it's going to be Mayfield. The big question is do they have the capital to move up far enough to do it. Plus, they hit a grand slam in last years draft after having a good 2016 draft. Do you want to essentially package all of your few significant picks for one guy? They don't have a 2nd round pick this year (and no one cares because that got them Kamara), so they may have to mortgage future picks again to get Mayfield

I’ve always wondered what Payton does after Brees retires since they seemed to be attached at the hip. Getting Mayfield and keeping Payton around would be nice.

I can't think of a better HC-QB pairing honestly. They're perfect for each other.

Well, they could wait two years, use this year & next years picks wisely, then sell the farm to get, say, Tua, like ATL sold the farm to get Julio.

UGA shut him down in the 2nd half for the most part and made his height a big issue. I'd rather us go all in on one more run and then worry about the Brees heir. I mean if Mayfield falls to you, sure. Not a fan of giving up a ransom for him though

I hate this talk about trading up...if anything we need to trade down and get more pics.

11 years the Saints have never done this. Don't expect them too now.

I watched that game and didn't see any issues with height. They literally went away from the gameplan that got them there in the first half.

We've had back-to-back decent drafts. Let's not frick it up by reaching for an immature QB. This kid is poised to crash and burn.
