Think Trump deserves a lot of credit

More Americans are crediting former President Obama for the state of the economy than President Trump, an ABC News/Washington Post poll found.
The poll, released Sunday, found that 50 percent of voters believe the Obama administration deserves credit for the U.S. economy, compared to 38 percent who said the same of the Trump administration.
Overall, 58 percent of respondents said that the economy is in good shape, the highest number in 17 years, according to the poll.
Trump has repeatedly taken credit for the state of the U.S. economy, lauding records set by the Dow Jones industrial average since he took office, along with lower unemployment numbers.

Thanks Obama for destroying the economy so I could buy stocks cheap then watch them skyrocket the past 14 months.

Thanks Bush for destroying the stock market so I could make a massive profit under Obama.

I believe it. More Americans voted for Hillary as well. Long live electoral college!

According to the article footnotes, only 23% of those polled were Republicans.
Gee, I wonder if that had anything to do with the outcome?

You would have to be an idiot to credit Obama for the economy’s recent success.

I’ll wait for you to give Obama for turning economy around after Bush first.

Hhhmmm
They could only get 50% of Obama voters to credit him using a skewed poll. Damn

Obama claims the economy flourished because of his green energy policies. That, alone, is why I laugh at this claim.

The markets taking off and companies moving back after Trump was elected was just a coincidence I guess.

1. Go look at the # of people polled based on political identity, it’s always like 49%Dem, 28%GOP, 23%Independent.
2. Do that survey again in a month after people get more money in 2 of their paychecks in a row...

Didn’t republicans credit Reagan after his tax cut plan wasn’t realized until after his term was finished?
I’m a Trump supporter but this has always puzzled me.

In the last 15 months, since the Election, the Dow gone up 8326pts, that’s a 46.5% gain. In the 2 years prior to that the Dow was stagnant, it went up a total of 100 points in that timespan. That’s just cold and facts!

1) Polling has become totally mendacious on all sides. It is always a political act, and never truly representative of opinion.
2). People are stupid. More ignorant and blindly partisan now than ever.
3) Factors that contribute to the relative health of an economy are vast. Only a few of them have anything to do with the actions of the POTUS.
4) Having said that, there are numerous actions taken by Obama that almost certainly created uncertainty and/or strain on the economy, including Obamacare, energy policy,, corporate tax policy, immigration policy, and a whole assortment of added regulations.
Trump’s modest changes and reversals on these policies undoubtedly helped promote economic growth. Anyone who argues against that is a dem-bot dolt.
Having said that, the principled Dem position should be that there could be/will be societal problems created by these changes: income disparity, run away capitalism, harsh effects on workers and the environment, growth of national debt, etc. Those effects are yet to be observed, if they ever come, but arguing that pro-business policies didn’t help the economy is just being obtuse.

The truth is that Obama inherited a really shitty economy and growth and improvement was steady over his 8 year term, so Trump had a rolling start. Deregulation has added heat to the current economy as well as the tax cut for corporations. The economy is very hot at present. The lingering question is if it can be sustained or even worse, if there is another looming recession due to several factors.

You aren't by chance a retired "executive" with a fetish for dog costumes?

Most of these geniuses don’t realize how all the Obama era regulations were strangling the economy!
