The White House knew the government shutdown was imminent months ago

Political forecasters warned a government shut down was looming months ago. The White House and Republican congress were no doubt aware of the budget deadline.
Instead, they chose to pursue tax reform and immigration reform before passing a budget.
Now immigration is tied up with the yearly Budget. They must have foreseen this predicament, but instead chose to kick the can down the road.
The government shutdown is on the Republican party because they put this off until the literally the last moment possible.

Meh - it's going to be tough to argue this when essentially every Dem is voting against keeping the government open.
That's on the record.

To be able to put this much stupidity into a single post is very impressive.
Bravo!

I'm a moderate cuck by this boards standards. I don't even really care if the dreamers stay (or not).
But there is no way to spin this other than painting Dems as choosing dreamers over the rest of America.
It will be the easiest PR campaign Republicans have ever bumbled their way through.

Nah... it's on the Dems because they value the lives of undocumented illegal aliens over those of children who are United States citizens.
But you know that already, don't you?

The frick?
How in the hell does one find himself in such a pretzel position as THAT?
I’m truly baffled at this silliness.

You're too fricking stupid to vote.
Congress has had what they needed to fix BOTH issues for a year.
A fricking year.

Um, no. The GOP has a CR in place to stop the Shutdown and the Dems won't let it come to a vote. That puts it on them. Their only justification is a non related issue in DACA that they are demanding the GOP submit on.
Beyond that your logic is flawed. The GOP has been trying to work through the issues that would have potentially held it up. They got tax reform done and they have made a concerted effort on DACA but the Dems are using distraction tactics like making an issue out of something supposedly said in a private meeting as having some relevance to policy.
The truth is the Dems have very little power and they are going to stomp their feet on anything they can to try and land a haymaker on Trump. All it does is show how they will sell out their own constituencies at the drop of a hat (such as the CHIP extension) because what they are MOST nervous about is Trump getting things done and looking reasonable and competent. They sure as hell can't run against his policy results so far with the economy rolling, unemployment finding new lows, ISIS in shambles, and illegal immigration way down. They have to distract and hope the voters aren't paying attention.
