Trump is playing 4-d chess and will get what he wants passed by the dems. He's using hardball negotiation tactics with Schumer trying to preserve his visa lottery and chain migration he passed in the 90's. Does Schumer want these future Democrat dreamer votes or lose the constant inflow of low skill immigrants who vote dem? Both options are up to the dims and outlook is good for Trump getting what his constituents voted for him to get.

Dems have been saying they will shut down the government over DACA for weeks.

This all after Trump rescinded DACA in May of last year and kicked it to Congress for a fix.

This shutdown won't effect the WH like the last one did the dems.
1. Last time, the republican base wanted a shutdown. It fell in line with their beliefs that government does too much. Dems are supposedly pro-big government and a shutdown does not go along with their beliefs.
2. Repubs are the second mouse that gets the cheese. Too many dems are on record of sky screaming about how bad a government shutdown is. Feinstein being a perfect example. They overplayed their hand in that regard. Now when those same people are voting to shut it down they become blatant hypocrites.
3. Dems are choosing the wrong hill to die on. To force a government shutdown (after dems already publicly stated how terrible it will be for everyone) over non-citizens does not sit well with A LOT of people including run of the mill independent moderates, despite what you may think.
I think this might end up biting dems in the arse. Guess we'll have to see how it all plays out.
