OP is an O worshipper. I would expect no less than the idiocy of this thread from him.

This is as dumb as when MLB people use it...

8 of the top 10 highest league average field goal percentages were from the 80’s. The other two were 1978 and 1979.

And the two years from the 80’s that were outside the top 10 were 1988 and 1989, and those years ranked 11th and 12th.

So the entire 80’s were 10 of the 12 highest field goal percentages in NBA history.

Why?
let's just admit it, guys shot better from midrange then than they do now

Basketball is crap today. Everyone admits it.

Go back and watch 80's Finals and it was like a football game or Ali vs. Liston.

Real passion, real play...not this WWE stuff we call Pro Sports today.

I mean the electricity - you can't get that anymore. People have turned on, tuned out and dropped out to Pro Sports.

Awful basketball played by athletes far inferior to the ones today.

The "speed" of the game back then was laughable

With the players playing right now, trade deadline approaching with teams possibly contemplating some critical moves, arguably the greatest team in the history of the professional iteration of the sport on the verge of repeating AND imminent free agency consisting of mass speculation and deal execution pertaining to epic players that could tip the Association on its axis, it BETTER BE EXPLODING

I fall somewhere in the middle on the NBA. There is no greater dichotomy in professional sports as far as level of play and excitement between the regular season and the playoffs than the NBA. A regular season NBA game in person has all the excitement of a CPA convention with shitty music piped in. One or two players on each team trying to get their numbers. The rest of the players you can practically see checking their cell phones between possessions to see which IG "model" they're going to rail after the game.
Then the playoffs arrive and the NBA is everything the fanboys on here claim it is. And, as an old fart, the younguns are correct. The level of play is much better now than the supposed glory years.

shooting from midrange is inefficient. it's a good thing the game has moved away from it.

They think there's no defense because there aren't as many forearm shivers to the face. There is less of that because the defense is better.

It's especially laughable when they glorify the 80s.

OP says there is no defense, yet Boston had 15 turnovers and 30 points at half?
