I have a tankless water heater outside. Cold water will run out the faucets and tubs but can't get any hot water to run out the faucets and tubs. I've tried warming up the exposed pipes out with a hair dryer but no luck. Also, been running the heat all day to try and warm things up. Any ideas what's wrong and how I can fix this?

Damn. Sounds like y'all will have to move. Maybe move up north. The northern posters love to tell us all how this shite never happens to them.

Low gas pressure? Is your furnace working properly?

Did you leave warm water drip from your faucets or cold? The warm water pipe might've frozen if you only ran cold on drip.

Myself and several people in my neighborhood had the same issue this morning. The remotes for the tankless units were actually showing an error code. Are you getting anything on yours?

For most of us, the units started working just on their own around the same time. I thought maybe the slight warm up in the temp may have helped. Others in our neighborhood said that Atmos was in the area and mentioned there was low pressure in the lines. Someone stated that they turned off their heater and then tried using the tankless and it worked. Other people said they shut off the tankless unit and then turned it back on to get it to work.

Take the cover off the water heater outside that is hanging on the wall and use the dryer on the exposed pipes. Your hot water line is froze.

Not on my tankless unit. It uses natural gas but is ignited by an electronic ignition device.

You could have a frozen pipe on the inside of the heater or you could have low gas pressure.

how I can fix this?

Step1: Take the outside panel off (if you know how to) and check to see if you have a frozen water pipe on the inside of the unit and/or if the pilot light is still lit.
Step2: Thaw pipe or relight pilot, or call a professional.

i assume you mean you have no water coming out when you open the hot side of your faucets and the problem with tankless water heaters is, they only heat up the water when its flowing, so the hot water outlet pipe has to be frozen up or if you have water coming out when you open the hot side of your faucets then the flow sensor on the water heater has an issue.

also if its gas, then the gas line might be frozen up

I had the same problem. I put a heat lamp by the exposed pipes. Turned on the H20 inside until system was functioning properly. Then I insulated the exposed pipes. I plan on letting the hot water run tonight.

I ran a pencil-thin stream of hot water run on the opposite side of the house last night and still had an issue this morning.
