I know lots of baws move to Texas, but for a new grad from lsu, can they afford to live in Louisiana? How is the tech boom there?

Do you even Plant Operator bro?

It's great. Most of the baws that move to Texas are losers that weren't good enough to get hired here

Nonexistent
Plant operator, offshore, or insurance salesman. That’s about all we got.
ETA: Forgot. Personal injury attorney too.

Most of them would not be moving to Texas if good jobs existed here.

Yep, we don't even have hospitals or healthcare jobs.

How is this possible? With the culture of Louisiana, lots of people should have free health care right?

There are ALWAYS openings in-state for dedicated folks.

Small business owners. Don’t forget about them. I’m not saying all are successful, but for a state as small as LA, there are numerous small businesses.

Just check the truck nut stock out.
When our job market is up, so is the truck nut stock.

Competitive pay? Reason I ask is cuz I am wondering if cost of living in the south is worth exploring. Would love to live in New Orleans

For my industry (O&G), the jobs are just different in Texas and Louisiana. You typically have to earn your stripes in both parts of the business to move up. You have the "business" side of it in Texas and the "operational" side of it in Louisiana. Some move to Texas to learn the business side and end up sticking with that career path. Some get the business side down and move back into operational management. You can make the same amount of money in both states. And once you get to the 250k+ salaries, you pretty much get to pick where you work from since you are in charge.

So does literally every other state. Healthcare doesn’t count as it’s prevalent all over the US

Numerous small businesses?!

Yes. Take a look online or in an Old fashioned phone book. There are over 15,000 small businesses in just the metro BR area.
