Anyone think the redfish will be holed up tomorrow at the Yscloskey Bridge canal or do I need to wait until Thursday?

They usually hole up after a day or 2 of freezing temps at that spot.

I've tried it twice. Once I went and didn't get a bite. The 2nd time I went was when the city shut down all the roads for ice. I limited out in an hour wherein 75% of the time I was in my car thawing my hands.

I think Thursday would be better. It usually takes a couple days of freezing weather and low water. Im not saying you wont catch fish, I just think Thursday will be the better day of the two.

That's what I'm fearing. But tomorrow my office shut down so I gotta take advantage of the opportunity.

fishing typically sucks the day after a big front like today moves through. You have to wait until day 2

Texas parks and wildlife always closed fishing in freezing weather along roads and bridges and places that you could shore fish from. I guess they didn’t think it was fair to the fish.

Went yesterday, nothing but rat reds... but lots of them... local guy said tomorrow and Wednesday would be best. We were catching on every cast but small ones. I watched one man feed 25 to damn pelicans ??

100% they will be biting at the Ycholsky canal and the warm water canal at Michoud.

Back in 1989, when we had a single digit freeze, I remember the Reds, and specks freezing solid in the marshes.

My brother last week went down and caught some very nice trout. Taking 4lb+ on plastics. He was dipping them in some crap. Forgot what the name was, but it is something that guilds use.

Catching?

I went out there for the last freeze a few weeks ago. Nothing but undersized rat reds with the occasional keeper.
