I know it's pretty easy fishing when it gets this cold. Thinking of bringing my son out to check it out. I've never done it but I'm told it's just about every cast.

My question is does it matter if you get there first thing? Or is it even better as it warms up a little? Really just wondering if that bite continues throughout the day.

Also do y'all think the bite will last through this weekend? TIA

Make sure you have your fishing license and abide by the size & creel limit otherwise you'll end up in a St. Bernard criminal courthouse.

We pulled some out of the canal this week. Caught two back to back. Limits in 30 minutes.

La sportsman has a video up of this from last week. It's all about the water temp. You dot have to be there first besides for a spot. Bite should continue until something changes that day (sunny to cloudy, tide, water temp or they are just tired of eating at the time)

I've been hammering the reds in deep holes in dularge. Caught about 50-60 keepers (kept 15) in one spot a two weeks ago. I went back last week and caught 0 with only a negative 3 degree water temp change. I moved to a different spot where the temp went up again and found 15 more real quick.

Jig head with a dead shrimp. Did this in college and loaded up.

ETA. Water temp is everything. I’d recommend going when it’s coldest, even if it means it’s getting dark or at first light. Plus there’s not gonna be a shortage of peole to compete with.

We caught easy limits on Monday and friends of mine caught easy limits Tuesday. They went back out there yesterday and said the bite died down a lot and they weren't catching much. Monday it didn't matter what time you got out there. My friend got out there at 11am and I got out there at 2:30pm.
